Anyone purchase the Catholic Answers Bible? It’s a NAB Translation with footnotes and commentary from Dave Armstrong.

I got one last Christmas. I like it. The footnotes contain some helpful information about specific verses, but there’s not so many that you feel overwhelmed. There’s intro commentary before each book which provide background on the writing. Hope that helps.

I own one, and do use it from time to time. The “inserts” (many of which are purportedly authored by Dave Armstrong) are helpful little tidbits on particular Catholic doctrines. I much prefer my Ignatius Bible, however, and so would only recommend getting one if you desire to have a New American Bible version. I’d recommend it as one of the best editions of the NAB out there, but would suggest the RSV2CE or the New Jerusalem Bible.

I’m skeptical of any NAB.

Does it still have the inclusive language and original footnotes?

I’m not sure. I haven’t read the entire notes of it. You may have to rent it to see it. I’m not much of a fan of the NAB myself but the CAB is only a first edition. I have my preference for the RSV-2nd Edition… and the RSV.
