Good day to all!

I was moved by the conviction of Catholic Answers to protect the Mother Church. I am currently trying to defend our Church against attacks of different sects here in our country.

May I ask if there is any publication (This Rock), shows, etc. of Catholic Answers in the Philippines?

PS: To all Filipino Catholic Apologetists here in CA, please do visit to the Philippine Forums of Christianster.com. There is a thread there named “What’s The Difference Between A Catholic And A Christian?” There, I have started to defend the Church but I cannot handle it by myself alone because I cannot answer all of their refutes. Please do help me answer them and do correct me if I have some mistake on the doctrines that I have presented to them. Thanks. 🙂

I am not in the Philippines, but time permitting, maybe I can give it a whack. What part of the forum is the link under?

I don’t know so much about publications being offered in the Philippines, but you can access EWTN shows via the internet for free, and there is lots of good information on the shows and on the site. ewtn.com/.

If you would like links for apologetics, etc. I will be happy to give you some of the ones that I have.

Pax tecum.

Here is the direct link: christianster.com/ctan/html/forum.php?viewcountry=filipino.

The thread’s link (the one I have mentioned): christianster.com/ctan/html/forummsgs.php?ctgryid=470&topid=25298&page=1&viewcountry=filipino

Yes. If you will. I need to have more resources for apologetics. Currently, I have 3 Catholic Books such as the Compendium to the CCC, Why Do Catholics Do That? by Kevin Orlin Johnson, and The Catholic Faith (a locally produced publication). I also refer to Catholicapologetics.net and sometimes I google some of the sites.

🙂

Thanks!

I will not be able to check out the forum today, as I am working on a lesson for a lecture, but here are some links for apologetics and resources. I am sorry that I cannot give you more right now, but I am not on my personal computer and I am going off memory.

catholicnewsagency.com/apologetics.php
ewtn.com/faith/teachings/index.htm
vatican.va/archive/index.htm (I always find this one useful for referencing)

🙂 Maayong buntag. I am a “foreigner” who loves his fiance from Cebu. I was there in September and they have EWTN on cable tv. I view Cebu as a refuge with such a strong Catholic faith. I noticed there was even a Sisters of St Paul store in the mall. There are many in the Philippines. They may be able to help you get more Catholic Answers resources.
It is nice to know what brand of Protestantism you are dealing with and to ask questions you know the answer to. The apologist here at Catholic Answers can help too. I learned more about my faith by being belittled and insulted by Protestants and am thankful they inspired me to learn why my Catholic faith is the true faith. I learned one issue at a time. Make them stick to one issue at a time. Dont win the fight. Win their hearts with charity and patience. Keep up the good work. Wish I were Pinnoy:thumbsup:

No problem. I will try to keep up with some of them. It is a little hard juggling things right now, but I will do what I can.

I will most definitely PM the stuff I don’t understand.

Maayong buntag sa imo, bai! (Though I am not from the Visayan-speaking regions, at least I know some of Visayan greetings) 😃

Yes, I saw many publications of the St. Paul’s here in our place. I’ll try to have some of them next time. We have also EWTN in our cable subscriptions here in our area.

Most of the Protestants there on that forum are Baptists. Next to the numbers are what we call as “Born-Again” Christians.

Thanks for your suggestions. 👍 Also, if time permits, please visit the links that I have posted earlier. 🙂

you started a wrong thread, first of all there is no difference between a catholic and a christian, as a Catholic is a True Christian.

some sect would say they are christian, some would have valid baptism and they are right to be called christians as well since they have valid baptism, however, having a valid baptism would help them until they reach the age of reason or until not having mortal sin or until they come back to the catholic church

however, most sect in the Philippines are christian (as they claim) by their business registration through Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) only.

but i would like to clear to you that as Catholic’s we are truly christian, as the first Christians are the Catholic’s in Antioch

He didn’t start the thread on that forum.

I had gone to check it out. It was started by others and there are many asserting that Catholicism is actually not Christian, etc. It wasn’t that he was asserting the distinction or that Protestantism isn’t a form of Christianity. He was just asking for help with apologetics on the forum, as there was a lot Catholic bashing going on.

I did not started the thread. I have only answered the refutes by the ones who accuse the Catholics as “Non-Christians”.

I would agree on your point on the SEC part. I know at least one of them called as “Church of Christ” but do not profess Jesus as God. In fact, almost all “Christian Sects” are registered in SEC but disregards many teachings that Christ taught.

Yes, there is no doubt that the Catholic Church is the genuine Christian Church. We have all the evidences (biblical, historical, traditional, archeological, etc.). St. Ignacius of Antioch first termed the Church as “Catholic”. And that “Church” will be as universal as it is until the end of time.

🙂

thank you for correcting me that you didn’t start the thread,
apologies for my mistake

Going up against well informed Protestants when you are not fully prepared for their apologetics might make you lose your faith.

I heard a caller on the radio lamenting that one of his brothers got converted by an anti-Catholic nondenominational church. Another of his brothers said “I’m strong in the Faith, I’ll go get him back”, but he ended up being converted to protestantism as well.

Hi Earwin,

I know this may be off topic from what you are requesting - but I just attended a healing mass here in New York at Auriesville - which is the shrine of the North American Martyrs. The priest who came there is very reknown and I wonder if you know him. He comes from the Philipines and has a unique healing gift. His name is Fr. Fernando Suarez.

Sometimes as with the first apostles - words are not so much convincing to people as actual miracles that they can see. Which Jesus allows so as to the building up of the Church.

Fr. Suarez realized God had given him this gift of healing when he was only sixteen years old. He saw a woman laying in the streets in the Philipines and being filled with compassion he asked her what happened. She told him she was paralized and had been that way for 30 years. “Oh you want me to pray with you?” The woman happily agreed - probably wondering of this 16 year old who had enough compassion to stop and offer a prayer for her. He said he only knew the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. When he finished the prayers the woman got up and walked. He got scared and ran away. He was afraid of the gift and asked God to take it away. Well after some years he became a priest.

Though he is now stationed in Canada - he does travel back to his homeland to minister there. Do try to look him up and see if you can get some prayers for help in your situation.

His web site is www.fatherfernando.com

God Bless, Hopper 🙂

Oh, Hopper, Fatherfernando is great, I never heard about him before. I have a presentiment that this is one of the greatest web site, I just read it, and I saw that there has prayer request too, that shows: request for : Physical Healing
Emotional Healing
Spiritual Healing
Temporal Healing
I do not know which one should click to request a prayer? Temporal Healing, What does it mean? No matter, very well! I already bookmark this web site. I thought that- many people in here CAF can make a prayer request.
Thank you very, very much,
and May God bless you and Fatherfernando.
