Mr. Congar, I thought you died back in the Nineties! Perhaps, you are posting from Purgatory or Heaven (I would certainly hope not that other place). 😃

Seriously, thanks for the update. I am intrigued by this discussion. Definitely, not to miss.

Well this should be fun. I am unaware of any relationship that Tim Staples has with traditional Catholics, so his perspective will be interesting to see. I know he is on record as saying that he prefers the OF of the Mass, which is certainly up to him, but it may color his thoughts on what is and is not “radical” when it comes traditional Catholicism.

I certainly hope he wouldn’t lump those of us that prefer the EF with sedevacantists, Pope Michael, or the SSPX crowd. 😦

I heard him preview the show a week or two ago and he said he will be focusing in sedevacantist’s groups. I am quite certain he would not call the extraordinary form radical. It should be a great show !

The callers and their questions could be interesting to say the least. 😃

I’ve never heard him say anything to indicate he thinks that way. Have you?

I’ll be listening. JW2, are you calling in?
I highly doubt it, unless something extremely odd comes up. I don’t listen with any regularity. I do archive the podcasts so that I can listen to anything that I have a particular interest in when I am mowing the lawn, driving, or doing my cardio. If the show stays focused on sedes, etc. I won’t have much in the way of questions to begin with as I am against that as anyone else is. If the discussion strays towards tradition in general, I may have some, but even then I doubt I would call.

What will be interesting to see is whether they invite sedes or SSPX-types to call in the way they do Protestants, atheists, etc. If so, things could get interesting. This is particularly true if someone asks questions about going to SSPX Masses, etc. In addition, if someone asks a question or brings up the implementation of the “wide and generous” access to the EF of the Mass called for by Pope John Paul II and the cooperation of Bishops in such endeavors or if anyone brings up the request by certain Bishops to Pope Francis to overturn Summorum Pontificum, I will be interested to see how they handle it. Finally, it will be interesting to see if anyone brings up the reported facts that there are almost as many people attending Mass in a SSPX Chapel in some countries as there are a diocesan Mass, or asks why it is the parishes who have embraced traditional liturgy and catechesis in most diocese who are producing the most vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, have increased Mass attendance, and have large numbers of young families.

Again, I don’t intend to call in, but I would be surprised if things like that do not come up at some point during the two hours. Perhaps I am wrong. Again, it should be interesting. Staples seems pretty quick on his feet, so I suspect he will handle questions well, but again, given his stated preference for the OF, his perspective on things might be different than some. Time will tell.

Oooh! Right up my alley. I may call in with a question or three since I still have a lot, and I do mean a lot, of baggage that I carry from my affiliation with them.

I hope he doesn’t. I do know that he has had extended email correspondence with a sedevacantist who has put the correspondence on the website he has.

I hope he understands too why people fall into it and how easy it is to fall into, and how once you are in it how difficult it is to extricate yourself from it without slipping back down the slippery slope.
Yves! How nice of you to join CAF and give us a heads up on the show. I have been looking forward to it for over a month now.

By the way, as long as you are here, did you really say that Vatican II was the French Revolution in the Catholic Church, or is that just an ugly rumor? :D:D:D

I do not mean any disrespect to Yves Congar - God rest his soul. :o
I just remembered he was made a cardinal by Bl. John Paul II.

:o

Darn, I’ll be commuting. I suppose they’ll have it in archives.

Your Eminence, I never knew you had such an interest in the Extraordinary Form!😃

Well now. I hope we can access it later on because I definitely want to listen to it and, depending how it goes, have my husband listen to it. I wonder whether it will help persuade sedes that they are wrong. They tend to be stuck in their way of thinking.

It’s interesting that it’s been on for 1’20", and yet there hasn’t been one caller on that is either SSPX or sedevacantist. I’m guessing they’ll throw one in at the very end when there’s little time.

Am I hearing correctly? I was told that either Mr. Staples or Coffin stated that the SSPX agreed with Fr. Feeney on baptism. This is patently not true, but I don’t want to get in a huff about it if I have been misinformed.
