lately I had a discussion about the deuterocanonical books here in CAF.

Now I got the idea that I could provide some links where to read the missing books of the LXX which are not in the Catholic canon:

Eastern (Russian) Orthodox Canon

1 Esdras or here.

3 Maccabees

Psalm 151

Prayer of Manasseh/Manasses [Not sure how to write him. ] or here.

(2 Esdras - which is not to be found in the LXX!) or here.

Is that about the same as the Greek canon? Far as the Greek Septuagint goes, I’d tend to take the Greek traditions more seriously than the other ones.

These are the books that are from the Septuagint (LXX) which are not contained in the Catholic Canon.

Except the Odes of Solomon and the Psalms of Solomon all are to be found in the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) with Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical Books.
I have it at home. It’s a great book.

I wish that there would be a German Bible with nearly all books of the Septuagint!
By the way: Last year the whole Septuagint in German was published by the board of the Evangelical Churches in Germany.
I guess I’ll buy this one for Christmas.

So to answer your question definitely: Yes, the LXX/Septuagint IS the Greek canon (if you want to call it so).

Of which other canons are you thinking?
