I’m back! 🙂

I’m supposed to be truth_thirst but I have no idea why I couldn’t retrieve my account/password through mail. So much for “beginning and beginning again.”

I’m planning to do apologetics in some sites this semestrial break. I think I know how to defend some of the Catholic doctrines and the significance of the One, Holy, Apostolic, Catholic Church, but I’m afraid I’m not that equipped when it comes to tackling the so-called abuses and errors of “the Church.” Can someone suggest at least where I can find enrichment regarding this area? (preferrably a short-read about the basics since I don’t really have a very long break) Thanks. 🙂

That’s kind of a broad subject. Do you have some examples or specific topics you wanted info on?

The Bible Christian Society Two Minute Apologetics is good and all the MP3s are about an hour (or less) and there are notes on the “booklets” link.
Pax tecum,

yay!!! may Pilipino din pala dito!!!🙂

glad to hear of this. i hope mroe Filipinos would understand their faith. 🙂

I created my own website and its www.geocities.com/kat_holos/rcc. For english-speaking people, sorry you’ll never understand it since its written in tagalog. I’m planning to further revise it. And by the way, I’m not a priest and I don’t even have a formal schooling in theology, but I’ve tried to study my catechism and I’ve read a lot of books about theology and apologetics and a lot of bible commentaries. Our bishops here are more concerned with politics than in guarding and defending our faith, so I took the initiative even if I’m not a theologian - in fact I’m just a 3rd year medical student. 😃
Totally true, Im filipino and to where I come from, the so called “priests” of God are more into politics than into religion…but has it even ever wondered to you why priests are more involved in positions of power? I used to be Roman Catholic but after reading the Catechisms, the statements of the popes and their canons it scared the hell out of me…now I got out of that system and rarely go to mass at all if any (mostly just to be with family, they force me to go to mass-typical of most religions)…

The usual retorts such as the Inquisition, Crusades, Pope John Paul II’s apology for sins of the “Church” etc.

Eliseo Soriano? I don’t think that he attracts people to his sect… With that kind of group its a waste of time to debate over him. I just hope that his follower will see what is in their group…
The INC and the ADD are already tearing each other apart. Debating with Eli Soriano is indeed a waste of time.

During the 70’s in our parish in Sampaloc, Manila, there also exists a group of defenders known as the DCF (Defenders of the Catholic Faith) which has a nationwide membership. However, in the spirit of ecumenism (in the truest sense) the parish priest at that time tried to tone down (if not altogether discouraged) their activities since they were viewed as very vocal and were deemed offensive to non-caths, especially the INC. How I wish they would come back and re-engage.
I definitely agree.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, hello!!! Bago ako rito pero nabasa ko lahat ang mga comments and suggestions tungkol sa present religious situation sa pinas. I’m very glad that the church attendance during every masses, weekdays and specially holidays, are full of people from all walks of life. Filipinos still have great faith in our Almighty God. We are bless by our constant prayers, humility and compassion to our brothers and sisters in need.

I have search every Catholic sites in the internet. I would suggest that you can find good apologetics in the following sites with questions and answer portion: www. vatican.va, ewtn, catholic encyclopedia for meanings concerning our religion, biography of saints and the letters of churchs’ doctors.Hope you find it useful.

Yeah…the attendance is UP! that’s why from the 98% RC in the late 80’s its down to 85% to the present and continuing to go down 🙂

Its nice to know that Filipinos are opening themselves up to the simple fact that the Roman Catholic Church is indeed a haven of pagans and false teachings.

For one, Catholic church worships Idols 🙂

Two, they worship 3 Gods in One LOL sounds like a 3 in 1 coffee for me…

list goes on…

I remember watching an ADD program once. There was this caller who said She thanks God for being a part of that religion and says that doesn’t like those ‘Plastic statue-worshipping Catholics’ who are in a false religion. 😦

I agree. The word ‘Trinity’ is not in the Bible! (yeah, I know that the word ‘Bible’ does not appear either, but so what?)

Yeah, 1 x 1 x 1 = 3!

…And another example. The egg is composed of the Eggshell, Eggwhite and an Eggyolk. So, those parts make THREE eggs! 😃

The amount of Catholics are going down. But I guess it’s not because they’ve found ‘The Truth’, but because they did not busy to seek the Truth that is already within their reach and still continue to find the Truth in other places. Very much like Archaeologists still trying to find a fossil that is already in front of them in other places.

the coward :bigyikes: new era has a new nick

Thanks guys. 🙂

Can you also give me links for the great schism (is that what it’s called) and the antipopes? Thanks. 🙂

My father, although Catholic, is heavily influenced by Protestant myths that he denies Church authority on obligations and faith and morals. Can you suggest how I can do effective apologetics with him? Please pray for him too. 🙂
