Catholic art

[wolfpup]

I wasn’t sure what forum to post this in, but here goes:

Anyone know where I can access good quality photos/pictures of Catholic/christian themed art for personal use online? Just the kind of thing that can be printed out for devotional use.
I obviously don’t want to use anything that has copyright or is private so google images is no good ( and it’s rubbish anyway).
I am particularly interested in stained glass if that helps.

BTW Catholic art prints are quite hard to come by online (that are from the UK). The shops that I have looked at have a poor selection. If anyone knows of anything, much appreciated.

Any ideas?

One thing you might do is go to Wikimedia Commons, and enter into the search category: “category:stained glass”. You will find something of Catholic spirit, I assure you. Almost everything on that website has been uploaded by individual photographers under a free-use policy. If you like an image, click it to enlarge and see what the copyright is. It’ll almost always be open-license.

As an example, I typed “stained glass” in search, and scrolled down to “France”, then the sub-category “Medieval stained glass windows in France”:

commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Medieval_stained_glass_windows_in_France

See which you like, and click them, then scroll down for information. The majority are under the Creative Commons or the GNU license. It’s almost totally free to use and share.
