Let me get this straight…this is all based on some tweets?? Has anyone even bothered to vet the Twitter account and it’s user, or corroborate the story? The article doesn’t say.

How can people be smeared in public based off of a tweet from Joe Blow?

Yes that’s exactly it - it’s all based of a series of tweets.

I think Fr. Bochanksi is going to suffer as well as I think some are going to be pretty angry that he sent this report to CPS and Safe Environment Coordinator of the Diocese of Bridgeport, even though, like it or not, he is required to do so by Civil Law and Diocesan Policy.

Just a heart-breaking story all around.

Did this happen before or after his conversion experience?

Of course before his conversion!
If it is true…

I see he had just removed his twitter account…☹️

I personally find the accusation suspicious: why would the accuser post this on twitter and not go to the Police?

yeh… it is more simple to post on twitter than to file a complaint! More, It makes you to be an international victim…

It is a manner to destroy someone’s reputation and image. And stop his battles. The alledge victim makes it clear in the article.

Yet, on the other side, any normally-resonning person do not post on social media a complaint that is untrue, because of the risk of legal proceeding.

It sounds as though the person making the allegation does not like Mr. Mattson’s conversion or his book, or his current views on homosexuality.

It is sad, because this complaint, if justified (he is presumed innocent until the proven contrary) will distroyed his life, and place us in (again) in a difficult situations because many many of our leaders have fallen due to scandal.

If it is true, he shoudn’t have accept to be a public icon.

On the other side, it happened a long time ago, before his conversion. It does not substract something on the sincerity of his conversion, or on his current beliefs and values.

I’m scared this situation will just drag on and on and won’t be resolved for a long time.

Whole thing is just so painful!

I find this thread, and this comment very interesting.

This man, who allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a minor, is being prayed for and defended, yet a group of high school boys were vilified and even had Bishops calling their “Catholicity” into question.

I weep for what our country has become.

Yes, but conversion or no, it was with a minor (if true.)

That’s what largely happened with the Covington kids, too.

I wish Dan would be able to tell his side of the story so that this matter could be resolved quicker.

Denying it is what a guilty person might do, so it’s not an assurance of innocence.

More than likely he’s staying silent at the advice of a lawyer, for legal reasons.
