One of the local Protestants attended a christening.
He inquired: What is the difference between christening, dedication, and Catholic baptism?
Please explain.

Baptism and Christening are the same thing, but Catholics mostly use the term Baptism.

Dedication is what some Protestant communities do who do not practice infant baptism. They dedicate their babies to the Lord at a church service. The babies are not baptized, and how they do it varies by denomination.

I always tell people that we Baptize babies but christen ships. However, in the process, both get named, and both get wet!
