Does reading a drivers manual benefit and/or is profitable for driving?

Yup…

Is this all you need?

Nope…
what about a license, physical requirements, someone to show you how to drive a car… a car…

What the verse you provided says just that… it is profitable, it is good, and well worth the read as you can learn a GREAT deal… but it does NOT say it is all…

If you follow your logical conclusion to its end, then you cannot read the NT either as there was no new testament when this letter was written…

What about books written AFTER timothy… like, say, Revelation…

If you wish to say “but everyone knew what was scripture” then why was there no agreement till 382 AD… prior to this, no one could agree on what was and was not valid scripture…

However, even using your logic, it does not say bible alone is a requirement to be a Christian… only that, based on your understanding, this is the only location you can turn to for truth…

This is different than a requirement for Christianity…

Adding Bible alone as a requirement violates its own premise because you add an extra-biblical requirement…

In Christ

I don’t think you’re understanding the way a person is baptized with the Holy Spirit. The bible says you must believe. That’s a prerequisite. A baby is incapable of believing.
Your statement… Prove it universally!

Now, if you want to elevate your church tradition to the level of the Word of God… that’s your choice. I didn’t say you can’t baptize a child with water. However, they won’t be baptized in the Holy Spirit unless they believe in the preaching of the cross.
Here is a Newsflash!.. Though it shouldn’t be.

The word of God comes from and is confirmed by that Church Tradition. Your faith tradition is a splinter of that same tradition.

Think of it like this… If there were no Catholic Church, you would have no bible, no christian faith traditons.

I don’t know, are you? Do you follow the Bible and the Bible only, as we are commanded? I don’t think so.
Where in the Bible does it state that IT (the Bible) has all authority? Unfortunately you cannot answer this question.

Why don’t you folks read what Peter said in Acts 2, I think that would take care of it.

The people heard,
the people were convinced that they had sin in their lives,
they repented of that sin,
they were immersed
their sins were washed away
(hopefully) they lived faithful lives from that point forward as Christians, not catholics!
The funny thing is…

They were Catholic. The phase “Christian” goes without saying when the term “Catholic” is used.

Where is that quote from the bible, that we must follow the “Bible Only”?

I’d like to see it.

I know it doesn’t exist, so what point were you trying to make?

We are comparing apples to oranges. Protestant Baptism is more along the lines of the profession of faith…in the CC Confirmation is the profession of the faith and that takes place when u are much older.

Baptism is a rite of Christian initiation. It is the replacement of circumcision. Baptism is always mentioned with water. Spirit and water go together when talking about baptism. Jesus said born of BOTH water and Spirit…not one or the other.

As far as God accepting the faith of someone else in order to bless them or accept them? All over the Gospels. Jesus heals the centurion’s servant because of the centurion’s faith. Jesus heals a child because of the FAITH of the mother. In the OT the parents faith that vouces for the infant being circumcised at AGE 8 days old!!! (ouch!!!)

The only real way to know what baptism REALLY means is to ask John what he meant when he wrote down “water and spirit.”
Too bad he is dead and didn’t leave a commentary…but he DID teach others…AKA certain ECF and it is clear from them that John meant water baptism AND that the issue is not IF we should baptize infants but rather WHEN.

i did read Acts 2 not one word about being immersed but people were baptised.

There is no such thing as Protestant baptism. If you use the Trinitarian formula you have been baptized into the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. What you decide to do after is another story.

What do these verses mean?

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Sounds to me that the Bible is all you need, I see no room for tradition or reason in these verses.
James chapter one verse four says that perseverance is everything that you need. So which is it??
