Hi there. I am attending the baptism of my mother’s friend’s daughter’s baby, and I was wondering if they all were during Mass, or if it is up to the parents.
However, in some parishes with large number of baptisms the pastor will schedule baptisms on a different day/time (for example 2nd Saturday of the month) and there would be a number of babies being baptized that day, outside of Mass.
It is also possible to have a private baptism, if the pastor allows and it is possible to schedule, which would also be outside of Mass.
My parish for example only schedules “private baptisms” for babies getting baptized at 1PM on Sundays, a little after the 11am Mass. And typically done by one of the Deacons.
So it really differs from Parish to Parish, for a number of different reasons/circumstances.
