  1. Lament their fate and curse Babylon
Psalm 137
1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat mourning and weeping when we remembered Zion. 2 On the poplars of that land we hung up our harps. 3 There our captors asked us for the words of a song; Our tormentors, for a joyful song: “Sing for us a song of Zion!” 4 But how could we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land? 5 If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither. 6 May my tongue stick to my palate if I do not remember you, If I do not exalt Jerusalem beyond all my delights. 7 Remember, LORD, against Edom that day at Jerusalem. They said: “Level it, level it down to its foundations!” 8 Fair Babylon, you destroyer, happy those who pay you back the evil you have done us! 9 Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock.

You’re obviously correct with that reference, although that’s not the scripture I was thinking of. I think we might be thinking of different captivities, though. (Wasn’t there more than one time of exile?)
The answer I was thinking of was in Jeremiah, and that makes the answer a bit different.
I learned something new through your answer. That’s definitely better than getting the answer I expected!

See! You learn something new everyday…at least I do…

New Q.

…“later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it”
From this Scripture verse, what is it that yields?

From this Scripture verse, what is it that yields?
Discipline
Hebrews 12:11 “Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
I was just looking at that verse earlier today!

Let’s try this again (I’ve already tried to answer twice, but my computer’s acting up).

Jacob. He worked for 7 years in order to marry Rachel, but he was given Leah as a wife instead. He then had to work for 7 more years in order to finally marry Rachel.

Annunciata answered this using Psalm 137. For someone reading in Jeremiah, the answer would have been (2) seek the welfare of Babylon and pray for babylon and (3) Marry and be given in marriage.

Jeremiah 29:6-8
“Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let the prophets and the diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream.”

Next Question:

Daniel 10: 12-14

12 “Fear not, Daniel,” he continued; “from the first day you made up your mind to acquire understanding and humble yourself before God, your prayer was heard. Because of it I started out, 13 but the prince of the kingdom of Persia stood in my way for twenty-one days, until finally Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me. I left him there with the prince of the kings of Persia, 14 and came to make you understand what shall happen to your people in the days to come; for there is yet a vision concerning those days.”
