I am a PDA user, so I have downloaded MANY bibles from www.olivetree.com

They are mostly Protestant, but they do have Catholic Bibles.

Most of this is even free (but donations are welcomed)

I’d like to second the New Advent CD recommendation. It’s wonderful! It has stuff from the Church Fathers, The Douay interspersed with the Vulgate, i.e. one line in English, the next is the same line in Latin. Go by a local Catholic book store and browse the apologetics section. They’ll have a lot of books from converts that explain exactly how they came to understand that the Catholic Church is the true church. Look for beginning apologetics books, they’ll teach you the faith of the Church and why it’s true. Check out the book store on this site. Subscribe to This Rock, (also available from this site). You’re right that if you don’t learn the teachings of the Church, the same Church Christ and his apostles started, you can be lead astray. Check out San Juan Catholic Seminars online (catholicapologetics.com). In our Bible study at our Parish we’re using Volume 1 of their apologetics study (also available here on catholic.com), along with it’s study guide, and people are amazed at how much they are learning about their faith, and that many of the things they found embarrassing about the Church were not teachings of the Church at all, but protestant distortions that had gotten into their world view. We’re having fun! Everything lesson draws heavily on the Bible, along with writings of the early Church fathers and the Catechism. It’s surprising how many people in the Bible study (which has been going strong for over five years!), had some really wacky ideas about the teachings of the Church and about its history.

I really like “Welcome to the Catholic Church”, which has bibles, catechisms, histories, encyclicals, ECF docs, council documents, canon law, and homilies.

It’s also crosslinked, which helps.

I’m not sure if anyone already posted this, but the Vatican has a cool website that will allow you to download some stuff, including a really good Bible commentary.
