Does anyone know where a person can download free bible study software off the web?

I know there are protestant sources out there that give away free bible software for study, but I am interested in Catholic sources.

And if that isn’t available is there any I purchase that is between $10-$20 dollars range, with book unlocking capability incase I wish to purchase more books if I like the software?

Frankly I am tired of seeing bible study software at Comp_USA and Best Buy that is only Protestant based. I never see any Catholic based software.

I would appreciate any help.

Started a few weeks ago and it is wonderful - especially the “questions for reflection” part in each study.
If you sign up with a group you can download each lesson but I am alone so have just been printing page by page…it is very tedious but certainly worth it.

Whenever you look at a Bible’s table of contents page, you’re reading a page written by the Catholic Church. The CC existed for several hundred years before the books of Bible as we know were collated. Therefore, it is historically correct to say that the Bible came from the Catholic Church.

This thread is not about where we received the Bible from, it’s on software. If you want to contuinue this in a new thread in the right forum, I might show up.
 
Harmony Media offers a product that is close to your price range: “The Illustrated Catholic Bible on CD.” It features, among other things, two Catholic versions of the Bible: Revised Standard Version-Catholic Edition and the New American Bible. It cost $29.95. Here’s a link: www.harmonymedia.com/CDROM/CatholicBible/icb.htm I have not used it myself so I can’t offer you a review of it.

Catholic Answers offers a product called “The Catholic Answers Collection on CD-ROM” but it costs $189.95!

Searchable versions of the Douay-Rheims Bible are available online, such as (www.drbo.org)
Browseable versions of the New American Bible are available online, such as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops website,(www.usccb.org)
The Vatican website has a browseable version of the New Vulgate (Nova Vulgata), if you are into Latin, as well as a browseable New American Bible, (www.vatican.va)

Personally, I find the free Sword Project for Windows software with the RSV (Protestant edition) module from www.crosswire.org very helpful and you can’t beat the price.

Here are a few quotes from your postings with my replies and/or questions/food for thought.

So, is a Morman or Jehovah Witness Bible study 100% Christian too? Both sects claim to be Christian and since I am not God and cannot see into their hearts who am I to say they aren’t? So just because someone says it’s 100% Christian in no way implies 100% correct! I can find many protestant sects that disagree on meanings from Holy Scripture.

The inspiration was from God but the Bible was written by man. If the Bible came from God were is the original in His handwritting? Why is there a JW version, a Joe Smith version, a KJV, etc. Even the KJV and NKJV’s are different, edited and abridged from the “Origional” AKJV. Don’t like a book, just delete it! If God wanted us to use the Bible then where does He say it is His only Word? Where does it say to use the Bible only? Does the Bible say there was more Jesus said and taught then what was written down?

Now, as I recall, Jesus was a Jew. Jesus most likely used the Greek Septuigent (Like the Catholic Church to this day) and not the King James Version (which deleted entire books and verses from those Jesus most likely used!). So the point is this, was the author (not the inspiration who we agree on is God) talking about the Greek Septuigent or the the KJV? Since the NT was not yet written we can safely say he was not writing about the KJV? So the verse you quote is used out of context in your quote since it only refers to the Greek Septuigent and the KJV authors/editors took it upon themselves to violate your meaning and edited Gods Word thus violationg Gods Word by deleting entire books of Holy Scripture not to mention verses.

OK, this is splitting hairs but there is techniquily no such thing as the “Roman Catholic Church”. There is only one Church founded by Christ and it is the “Catholic Church”, His body of which He is the head. One head, one body, one Church. The Church was not allways known by the name Catholic but it was the same Church. The origional name was “The Way” (not to be confused with the sect today by that name.

This scripture is talking about the old testament. The new testament wasn’t even completely writen at the time Timothy was written.

The Roman Catholic Church has existed since 33 AD. You can look at Ignatious’ writings, he calls the Chuch the Catholic Church in 110AD. You can trace the Bishops of Rome all the way back. I can’t recall who it was, I think Clement of Alexandria in the 2nd century who traced the first 13 bishops of Rome. There are also other writers who traced the lineage of the bishop of Rome. If you look at the beliefs of the Catholic Church and look at those of the early writers, you will find that they are the same. Especially look at Ignatius, Irenaeous, and Justin on the Eucharist.

The bible has existed since 382 AD at the council of Carthage I think it was. It included the deuterocanonicals. The Catholic Church includes these books, none of the protestant churches do.
