This scripture is talking about the old testament. The new testament wasn’t even completely writen at the time Timothy was written.
True, partially - at the time this book was written some of the NT had been and was circulating. It is poissible that the author ineded these books too. Just possible - we can’t for certian one way or another.

Does anyone know where one can get free downloadable bible commentaires, Catholic that is?

Personally, I find the free Sword Project for Windows software with the RSV (Protestant edition) module from www.crosswire.org very helpful and you can’t beat the price.
I have recently loaded the E-Sword software, and have found it very useful. However, I was not able to load the Crosswire version of the RSV to E-Sword. Could you point me to instructions to make E-sword play nice with Crosswire? Thanks!

Please let us keep this thread on the topic of Catholic Bible Software. I have been searching for something suitable for weeks and I am at a loss. I really would like to see some discussion on this topic without the moderators shutting us down.

We can also speculate as to why:
1) Catholic versions of the Bible are all copyrighted, and the holders don’t seem to want the texts released to software companies. Making a buck from the word of God??
Code:
 2) Why do Catholics have to rely on the Protestants for Bible study materials? We really seem to be trying hard to prove the fallacy that Catholics don't read the bible.
By the way, let me state again, the whole E-Sword project is amazing. Protestant or not, the gentleman who started this project is truly a blessing.

I’ve had trouble installing different versions too and I don’t think I have it figured out yet myself but this might help:
  1. Install the basic Sword software. Once you are sure the basic Sword software is working ok, close the Sword software.
  2. Download the RSV version into the same directory on your computer.
  3. Unzip the RSV version.
  4. Open the Sword software.
  5. Along the top of the main Sword window, click on “Tools” and then click on “Install Manager”.
  6. In the Install Manager window you should be able to see and select the RSV.

Ah, I think I see my problem. I was trying to use a Sword Bible on the E-Sword platform. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think I’ll switch to Sword so I can use the RSV version.
