I got a simple question. What Bible do Catholics use? King James, NIV, some other one? Thanks in advance.
The New American Bible is the source of the Scriptural texts used at Mass. For private study and devotion the New Jerusalem, the Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition, and the Douay-Rheims are common.I got a simple question. What Bible do Catholics use? Just to be clear, the NAB is indeed the *source *of the texts used in U.S. parishes of the Roman rite. In other words it is not the straight NAB, but a corrected version. The New American Bible is the source of the Scriptural texts used at Mass. …]
Actually, the original version of the KJV did contain the deutero-canonical books. You can still get it, if you search for a “KJV with Apocrypha.” You can also apparently find it online here: biblestudytools.com/kjva/And NM505StKate, the KJV and NIV (mentioned in the OP) are Protestant translations and lack several books and parts of others. That said, I do like the literary style of some passages in the KJV.

No…there are many…depending on your preference…more important is that it contains the entire Catholic Canon…Protestant New testaments contain the same books as the Catholic, however, a Catholic bible will contain the deuterocanonical books (referred to as apocryphal books). So there isn’t one unified Bible that is used? Bit confusing as I figured there would be.
