I got a simple question. What Bible do Catholics use? King James, NIV, some other one? Thanks in advance.

Best one in my thought is the RSV CE Beautiful and more literal.

(it is the one used mostly in English translations for Vatican quotations of Scripture such as in the Catechism).

One of the best is the Didache Bible, which is the RSV-CE that is keyed to the Catechism.

The New American Bible is the source of the Scriptural texts used at Mass. For private study and devotion the New Jerusalem, the Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition, and the Douay-Rheims are common.

Like Bookcat said, I use the RSV-CE (Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition), specifically the 2nd Catholic Edition from Ignatius Press. The text is absolutely beautiful and more literal, which is a must for me. Personally, I’ve never much liked the NABRE.

Just to be clear, the NAB is indeed the *source *of the texts used in U.S. parishes of the Roman rite. In other words it is not the straight NAB, but a corrected version.

And NM505StKate, the KJV and NIV (mentioned in the OP) are Protestant translations and lack several books and parts of others. That said, I do like the literary style of some passages in the KJV.

Actually, the original version of the KJV did contain the deutero-canonical books. You can still get it, if you search for a “KJV with Apocrypha.” You can also apparently find it online here: biblestudytools.com/kjva/

To the subject of the thread, I agree with other posters in recommending the RSV-CE as a Catholic Bible, but I have others.

No…there are many…depending on your preference…more important is that it contains the entire Catholic Canon…Protestant New testaments contain the same books as the Catholic, however, a Catholic bible will contain the deuterocanonical books (referred to as apocryphal books).
