I have some great books I’ve read by various Catholic authors (sampling below) that I wanted to leave in our church entrance where they have brochures, newspapers, etc. but the secretary told me “No” That’s fine, I had gotten the idea from a Dominican church I go too sometimes when nearby, they would have people leave Catholic prayer books, newspaper, newsletters from convents, etc. and occasonally a book they wanted to share with others.

What do you suggest is a bood idea for a place other than Goodwilll (I’m afraid they will be discarded after a while) I will leave them there if I can’t think of anywhere else.

I told the secretary that so many people wont buy relgious books or maybe just one and I think most libraries don’t have very much if ours are any example. 2 of these, the “When Did We See You Lord” and Andrew Apostole’s book on virtue is excellent and answers a lot of questions many have.

Thanks for any ideas!

You can download books written by the saints here: saintsbookscatechisms.blogspot.com/

You better not read books on catholicism written not by the saints, because it is mostly not effective in building your faith / love.

But the saints are proven, in their life and teachings.

Try to read St. Faustina Kowalska Diary:

Works of St.Louis the Montfort on Mary are also interesting:

the secretary said know because it is the pastor’s policy not to put any written material out for parishioners he has no personally approved, and he does not have time to go through a pile of books. Look for a rummage sale at a Catholic parish and donate them there. We have a CCD table at our parish garage sale and all the religious books and articles donated are sold there, and we raise a tidy sum, last year enough for a high quality DVD player.

When our parish school had to close, some of the books were kept and placed in a “Lending Library” for parishioners. You might want to check with other Catholic churches in your area to ask whether they have a Lending Library. Other options I have heard of would include a Catholic nursing home or assisted living center… or even churches that offer prison ministry. Your kind intention to make sure the books do not go to waste is very thoughtful – and I think the Holy Spirit will be happy to help you find new homes for your books! 👍
