Hey I am a former protestant (baptist in Spain) and I go to an evangelical church with my daddy he is 60 and has bad a disease so I got to go with him Sundays (Several priest encoruaged me to do so)

The thing is, I would like to have catholic books in biblical theology. I dont want philosophy or dogmatic right now.

Biblical theology has convinced me to accept Mary as a queen as we see in the old testament the role of a queen is carry out by the mother of a king, So please post me a list of books on catholic biblical theology. Need it badly

Ty God bless you

The Biblical Roots of the Mass by Thomas J. Nash. I’m not very far into it, but so far it seems good.
ty sister, I need more more books. Authors i take note about that author you mentioned. Brant Pitre is a real good one as well. ty

Thomas J. Nash
Scot Hahn I consider him a schoolar, even in Spain if we study protestant theology as I did in seminary you go deep and you got to deal with him. Tim Staples is not what i like, I like and it helps me a lot the authors who are very efficient in sacred scripture

There’s one list here, although I’m not sure that’s what you want. I think what you’re after is a single book that explains Catholic Theology. But have a look at the list anyway.

Also maybe the following books - > Catholic Theology (Doing Theology) by Tracey Rowland (Author); Twentieth-Century Catholic Theologians / Edition 1

For a brief introduction to Catholicism, the Dummies Book - “Catholicism for Dummies”, isn’t too bad. Obviously it’s not written in the style of a Theology text book, but it gives a good brief overview of various aspects of Catholicism.

The problem with Catholic Theology is that it covers such a wide ambit - not only is there the “Biblical” theology as defined by Protestants including Systematic Theology, Christology, the Church, Pneumatology, Eschatology, etc, but there is also the Church Fathers, Aquinas, Church Tradition, Church Councils & Council Documents, the Catechism, Marianism, Canon Law, Philosophy & Ethics, Social Justice and so on. For one book to cover all of it is asking for a lot.

Hey brother Bob ty. i am looking for several books that deals with the catholic doctrines that are at odds with the evangelical mainstream and explains them using bible mainly. I know we are not sola scirptura but for example Brant Pitre and his book on the eucharist he goes to bible and jewish culture to explain you a lot. Is like the example I stated before about Mary as queen

Hi Miguel Castellon,

There’s a lot of stuff on the net. You’ll just have to be patient.

I’d be surprised if there’s a Catholic “Systematic Theology” anywhere, so I think your best bet is to get onto Google and type in “Catholic Books giving biblical background on ”, the topic being whatever particular issue you’re interested in whether it’s Marianism, the Pope, Catholic Traditions, Transubstantiation in the mass (although the book you’ve mentioned probably goes into that), Sacraments etc.

I’ll think you’ll need a few texts to cover it all.

Then again you may not need books – you may be able to find websites or blogs that cover these questions.

Hello Miguel,
Anything by Dr. Scott Haun is excellent. He was a former protestant who converted to Catholicism and is now one of the foremost biblical apologists in the United States. His writings are easy to understand and yet profound. A Father Who Keeps His Promises is one of my favorites. It is about the progressions of the covenants through the Old Testament into the New Covenant of Christ.

Congratulations on your conversion.

God bless and Happy Easter,
Br. Ben, CRM

stay away from mainstream apologetics…they are book peddlers…look to the Church Fathers, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Church Documents (encyclicals, constitutions, etc.).
