Catholic books on Knowing about God?

I starting to commit myself in my relationship with God. My relationship with him is very conditional not only because of my fallen nature but also because of my sins. I never tried to build a relationship and know him, please let me know any books that would help me know about him his nature so that I could serve and love him.

The best way to build your relationship with God is to pray the Rosary and go to Mass. As far as books - read the ascetical works of St. Alphonsus Liguori. Search for them on the archive.org web site.
