Do you know of any good books that deal with mental health issues such as
Depression
Self harm
Anxiety
Eating disorders…
from a Catholic point of view, far too many of the books I read on the subject have a very secular world view.

No but I would find that very interesting. It was recently recommend I keep a diary to write my own book like this. As I’m on psychotropic medicine but with the help of my new found Catholic faith I’m slowly coming off it with much success. If I ever did write a book I’d love to write about how the Sacraments especially the Eucharist become the most powerful medicine, more powerful than any man made medicine. A nun said to me something so wonderful , you don’t need a psychiatrist , God is the number one psychistriast. He gives eternal medicine.

I don’t know about those specific issues, but you might look up books by Gregory Popcak. He is a Catholic Counsellor and has written many books on a variety of issues, always from a Catholic perspective. I’ve not read them myself, but my brother really likes all his books.

Joe thank you, I’ll try and read some of his books.

Christine even if you don’t write a book I would really encourage you to share your experiences with others. The best hope that some psychologists offer people is to be on medication for the best of their life, your story could give hope to so many.

I haven’t read this book but it looks good, Surviving Depression: A Catholic Approach Kathryn James Hermes.

I wanted to know because I have so many people coming to me who aren’t getting the help and healing they really need from so many counsellors, I think modern psychology has helped a lot, but it is lacking the healing hand of Christ.
