Here in Houston we have several, the best in my opinion is Veritas though. I would just try typing in catholic bookstore (city) in a search and you should come up with something. If not just order books via Catholic answers or Amazon.

The store I go to is a Christian book store. It takes a little looking in there but I can usually find what I need. If yours doesn’t have what you want and you know it specifically, see if they could order it for you.

Hi copland. Another resource to check out is www.pauline.org. I’m not sure where you are, so I can’t give you any specific help, but I hope this does help!

You do not say exactly where you live, so I cannot say what is in you area.

I am fortunate that, in this area (Philadelpia), there are many Catholic bookstores. I mainly use two stores here:

Pauline Books & Media (NE Philly) - Mainly for Spirituality and Theology

The Catholic Shop (Norristown) - Great selection of apologetic material including some from Catholic Answers

There is also some supposive “Catholic” stores in the area that I will not buy from due to the fact they carry some questionable material (i.e. The ‘Left Behind’ series)😦 and they mark up the material above list price (they cover the price with thier own sticker).

We had a Berean Christian store just about 10 blocks from our house, which I would sometimes go to when I was desperate for something to read. OK if you’re looking for CS Lewis or “maybe” a Catholic bible. I stopped going in when the already small Church Fathers section quietly disappeared.

Ask your parish secretary or priest for a recommendation. I have found that our parish secretary knows just about everything! Yeah, the priest is pretty smart, too! 😛

I’ve been thinking about becoming pro-active in my old parish when I move back. The only Catholic books can be found in Books-A-Million. I plan on getting friends, family and aquantances to agree to buy Catholic books; then I’ll go over to the nearest Christian bookstore that’ll agree to special order, and I’ll order all these Catholic books from them. They’ll at least have to take a little notice. I’ll also be very sure to mention all the revenue that they are missing out on to online stores.

Not to say I have anything against online stores. I LOVE them! But I think it’s benificial to get Catholic books in Christian stores for people that would otherwise never see them.

In the area I live in there are more Protestant churches then there are white people!http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon10.gif And there are all kinds of “christian” bookstores but they are all protestant. Are there any Catholic bookstores out there? If so then any sites that I can go to to find out where the closest one is to me?
Try living in Utah and trying to find even a protestant book store. I know of two protestant ones and only one Catholic book store.

Try catholicstore.com. Also, justcatholic.com is a good one. A portion of their profits can be sent to your parish.

My husband is a manager at Books-A-Million so I can get all my books through his store with his employee discount. If they don’t have it…they will order it for me. They have a pretty good Catholic section and I go through it once in a while to make sure no one tried to sneak anti-Catholic books in that section. I’ve heard of that happening in some stores.

If there were a Catholic bookstore here I would patronize it…so far we just have a Evangelical Christian Bookstore. They do sell Catholic Bibles but they are the biggest Bibles ever printed. Big heavy things!

Our church has a gift shop that is open after each Mass where you can buy rosaries, statues…candles Bibles and so forth etc.

A Catholic bookstore that I go to all the time is the one contained within the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

They have both a large book store and a gift shop at the National Shrine. Info on the National Shrine can be found Here.

Try Leaflet Missal (I believe they are in Minnesota?). Their online site is www.leafletonline.com. Their 800 number is on the website, you can call and get their catalogs. They have lots of items.

I’ve also ordered books through the Spirit Daily website, too. They are at www.spiritdaily.com.

**I live in Mason, Ohio, which is near Cincinati. We are so fortunate to have the Emmaus Catholic Bookstore and Gifts. **

**Emmasu has been here for eleven years. The owner is one of my best friends, and I helped her open it, and worked there for several years. **

**Two of our largest parishes near here…one in Mason, and one in a nearby town, have pursposely not encouraged their people to patronize this wonderful store…The reason is that these churches are VERY liberal, and the bookstore is very traditional/conservative. **

**And…It has done very well…People are hungry for Truth! **

Emmaus is a really wonderful shop – I can’t wait til the new store opens!! :bounce:

I was in a Barnes & Nobles the other day, and noticed they had a display table set up with a sign that said something like, “Cracking the DaVinci Code” and on the table was the subject book, plus a bunch of knock-offs and “answers to the questions”.

I went to the religion aisle and sure enough, there were two copies of The DaVinci Hoax by Carl Olson & Sandra Miesel. I figured if that book belonged anywhere, it was on that table as an answer to all the others, so I put a copy there on top…

A couple of days later I was in the same store. I checked the table, and the book I’d put there was gone, and hadn’t been returned to its original spot! I grabbed the other one and put it where I’d put the first one. I hope they’re doing some good!!

If you don’t have a Catholic Bookstore in your area, ever think of opening one?
