I see. I think we might be talking about different things here. When I say our claims to Catholicity are not dependent on other people’s claims, I mean that. I don’t mean that others will accept or agree (or not accept or disagree) with those same claims; you’re right that the acceptance of others will vary based on the situation. )
I wasn’t denying your cathilocity. There are both a Catholic Coptic Chur and an Orththodox Coptic Church. I was just trying to figure out ehether you worship at the Catholic or Orthodox Coptic Church so I can understand your position. I accept you position in either case there is a deep spiritual communion between our Churches.

I see. When in doubt, you can always check a user’s religion in the little info box to the right. I’m Coptic Orthodox. 🙂

I don’t want to go back and reread the thread, but I’m pretty sure that at some point it was made clear that Anastasia13 isn’t in communion with Rome.
Not according to the official Church heads, but from what I understand, it is the general MO of my church to act as though there is communion between us. Of course politics also gets in the way, but you have that with Cilicia and Etchmiadzin anyway.

I know some Oriental Orthodox Churches (or maybe even all) can just join any Oriental Catholic Church, such as the Chaldeans for example, and receive the sacraments without the Priest having to know you are Oriental Orthodox. This is just what I here’d by reading some books and articles online. The article online mentioned that the relations between the Pope and the Oriental Orthodox partiarch is the reason why the sacraments are avaliable to OO in Oriental Catholic Churches. So in a sense we are in communion with one another! 🙂

God Bless You!

No. No we aren’t. You offering sacraments to Oriental Orthodox is not the same as you being offered sacraments in an Oriental Orthodox Church (and I write “an” on purpose here; Catholics are not communed in Coptic Churches, for instance…this is an Armenian peculiarity borne of their particular history and circumstances). If I were to commune in a Catholic church, I would be excommunicated.

I second this statement. 👍

Being in Communion with a particular Church requires that both Churches publicly acknowledge the fact that they both share the same faith and are in Communion with each other. Some priest offering you the Eucharist does not mean that you are in Communion with their Church.

There are 23 Catholic rites, of which the Roman rite is one … largest and most well known.

You can do a Google search to get the list and their descriptions.

False. There are 23 Catholic churches (not rites) of which the Latin Church is the largest and most well known.

You are correct, however, in saying that the Roman Rite is the most used and well known rite (it being used by the majority of the Latin Church, which is the largest by far of the 23 Catholic churches).
