Catholic Campaign for Human Development’s First 2010 Grantee Backs Abortion

Washington, DC – The Catholic Campaign for Human Development faces renewed criticism from pro-life advocates who say the first grantee receiving funding under this year’s collection plate campaign backs abortion.

From the linked LifeNews article: ***“CIW has not been awarded another grant yet, but could be.” *** So the so the title of this thread is an untruth - the organization in question is not, in fact, the “First 2010 Grantee.” Hyperbole and sloppy reporting does not serve the pro-life cause.

Granted they should have been more careful with their article, still, this point is valid:

*CIW has not been awarded another grant yet, but could be, … They are featured in the renewal document as a great example of the work of the CCHD. …
*
*“The very idea that the CCHD would praise CIW in a document that apologizes for funding pro-abortion, pro-homosexual organizations in the past and promises to make a stronger effort to avoid doing so in the future undermines their credibility,” he said. “If CCHD can’t get it right at the beginning of this process, what confidence can we have that it will be able to do so later on.”

The problem is that the CCHD track record is bad.

They want us to give money which they will distribute to organizations which are undisclosed when we give the money. This is a whole lot like passing ObamaCare so that you can know what’s in it.

The list of grantees should be fully disclosed at least 1 month prior to the collection. They should develop a process to take and respond to public criticism of proposed awards. Most importantly, they should understand that they are viewed by many as being “on probation.” Every Catholic can alternatively redirect any money they would have given to CCHD to Catholic charities they trust to be 100% compliant with Catholic teaching.

"CIW has not been awarded another grant yet, but could be."
Actually, it says ‘another’ grant so CCHD has given them money - our money - in the past.

I know that I will never give another donation to CCHD.

Exactly!

Why do we Catholics? keep shooting ourselves in the foot?

**Catholic? University Notre Dame honors pro abortion President Obama, while prosecuting pro-life demonstrators?

Catholic Nun who leads “Catholic Health Association?” backs Obama care which uses taxpayer funds for abortions?

Catholic? politicians like Pelosi & Biden openly defy Catholic Church teaching & are Pro-abortion?

CCHD cannot find an organization that doesn’t support Planned Parenthood’s abortion business for grants?

Majortiy of Catholics? vote for Pro- abortion President Obama???

Jesus warned us about these people;

“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.” (MT 24:24**)

Doesn’t the Catholic Campaign for Human Development have a very questionable and liberal track record? Something we should be very wary of? Why are they even associated with the Church?
