Wasn’t Tom Cruise raised Catholic?
Speaking of Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman has come back to the faith - to what extent I am not sure. Her desire to raise their kids Catholic rather than Scientologist was a major factor in their breakup.

I sure saw the sign of the cross a bunch of times from several Boston Red Sox players during the Series. Especially Pedro Martinez and Manny Ramirez.

Bono is not Catholic - He never was. His mother was Protestant his Father was Catholic.
Their children were raised Protestant.
Larry Mullen Jr. is the only Member of U2, who was Catholic.

I’m sorry, but Bono is a Catholic. I remember specifically him making that introduction speech for Frank Sinatra years ago. One of the things he said was that Frank Sinatra was “proof that God is a Catholic”. Plus, during the nineties, there was mention of him several times marching in pr-Catholic marches in Ireland.

Scott Hahn…all the incredible converts…tons of people rooting for chastity…sorry for lack of specificity (attempting to multitask at home here)

Whoops, sorry for the typo. That should read “pro-Catholic marches”.

Sorry but, I am 110% certain on this. I’m a big U2 fan , I live 5 miles from where Bono grew up.
U2 met in Mount Temple school in Dublin. It is a “nominally non denominal” school, but it is mainly attended by Church of Ireland(protestant) students.
When Bono met the Pope, he commented, in jest (beforehand) that he hoped the Pope did not know that Bono wasn’t Catholic.
3/4 of U2 in fact were member of a born-again sect here in Dublin called the Shalom group. At one point in the early 80’s Bono, Edge & Larry were think about splitting up as the Rock n’ roll lifestyle conflicted with their born again beliefs.
Commenting about Sinatra, I don’t think implies anything about Bono’s faith.

Yes, Madonna was raised a Catholic. Now she’s into the whole Kabalah (sp?) scene.

Sorry, but I have no intention of paying for a book to answer a question I already know the answer to. You think I’m wrong, I think you’re wrong-so let’s just leave it at that.

Cyndi Lauper once referred to herself as a “recovering Catholic”.

I have a DVD where Bono starts the concert at Slane Castle with a genuflect and the sign of the cross, also I’m pretty sure there is a statue of Mary on Edge’s equipment. Just observations that cause some confusion. Thanks for the info

Gene Roddenberry may have been born Catholic–I’m not sure–bit he became very much a humanist in later years, and possibly atheist. He married his second wife in a Shinto ceremony in Japan.

Bono is NOT a Catholic. This is a common misconception. He has Catholic sensibilities however but has never come into the Church. Pray for him

My brother makes the sign of the Cross (Lots of Anglicans use Catholic signs and symbols) and has a statue of Mary. He is not Catholic…although I am working on it!
