I know that when the time comes for me, I want to be buried in a Catholic cemetery. However, being that I live in a predominantly protestant area, I’m not even sure there are Catholic cemeteries around here. Does anyone know how I could find this information (I think I googled it once and came up with nothing). I have a living will and need to set in place mine and my wife’s burial wishes.

Contact the Chancery. They will know where the nearest Catholic cemetery is located.

Many non-Catholic cemeteries have portions set aside for Catholics which the Bishop has consecrated. What makes the cemetery Catholic is that it is consecrated ground. It is holy ground, second only to the sanctuary in a Catholic Church. It is consecrated through an act of the Bishop who does the consecration.

Start here: sacredheartcamden.com/pages/cemetery.html

St. Mary Of The Springs Catholic Cemetery is a cemetery owned by the Diocese of Jackson, but is managed by Sacred Heart Parish in Camden. It appears to be reserved for Sacred Heart Parish, clergy, and near by “sister” parishes.

However, perhaps if you call them, they can point you in the right direction.

God Bless

In answering the OP, is seems there is a “Catholic Hill” section reserved at the Natchez City Cemetery, where the Diocese of Jackson bishops are interred. Perhaps there’s also a section for Catholic Laity.

I know that some communities only have one cemetery for everyone. That is the case in the next town where our diocesan see used to be. I don’t recall that there is even a Catholic section in that cemetery, each grave is individually blessed at the time of the funeral.
