With all due respect, let’s not blame the Ordinary Form of the Mass. The big problem is that, as I have experienced it with some of these movments, is that they tend to follow the alleged “spirit” of Vatican II than what the Council actually said. Rome has been very clear, from Sacrosanctum Concilium down to Redemptionis Sacramentum, that the integrity of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass needs to be respected. Thus, it is not the fault of the Mass; rather, the blame falls on those who have the need to take the liturgy and “cobble something up” (as Pope Benedict has often stated) something for themselves. The movements are not exempt from obeying the norms and rubrics of the Mass. We only have to look at the examples presented to us from Life Teen and the Neocatechumenal Way.The novus ordo has led to a lot of these abherations. What did we expect would happen.
