I’m not surprised re the legal outcome. I have the impression that today, if you have a savvy enough lawyer, you can get away w/ anything! (I have no faith in the current state of our legal system; I think it’s played like a game).

However, the staffers were fired by the Catholic Charity they worked for. I think that’s appropriate. But I wonder how was it that the Catholic Charity managed to hire (4 was it) so many staffers who were willing to violate Catholic Church Law?

Also, I had read that the local Bishop had heard about the imminent abortion and notified the director (of the charity org) that the procedure must not happen; they must stop it from happening. The director countered that they were informed it couldn’t be stopped! There is something terribly wrong there.
I just don’t believe it couldn’t have been stopped. If it wasn’t done yet, it could be prevented.

Why didn’t the director personally intervene?
Why didn’t the bishop personally intervene?
I think this is horrific.

I think the forum rules are that if I cite a news-story, I’m supposed to give the quote or link. I don’t know yet how to do that. If someone will instruct me, I’ll do it. Thanks.

The bishop had advance knowledge of the January procedure, but he said he was told by the charity’s executive director, Joanne Nattrass, that there was nothing they could do to intervene.

Nattrass issued a statement saying she learned Jan. 17 that the girl was scheduled to have an abortion the next morning.

The information was relayed to the bishop, who Nattrass said replied that “I forbid this to happen.” But Nattrass said she and other authorities were led to believe they could not stop it.

The above is exerpted from the article I read, which can be found via wtopnews.com/?nid=25&sid=1425729

Is that how I’m supposed to “provide a link”?
Please instruct me!
