I get some many things in the mail and see so many charities on TV asking for money. Im always a bit weary of them , and not sure how much of the money really goes to the people who need it. Who can i trust ? Anyone know any good reputable Catholic charities to donate ?

A good place to start would be your parish. Get involved with the various charity organizations within your own Church.

Giving money is a great and wonderful thing but you would learn a great deal about where money is needed by becoming involved yourself.

As for all the items you receive: Go online and check out their web-sites and do some home work.

Fr. Richard Ho Lung’s Missionaries of the Poor are advertised a lot on EWTN. I have sent donations to them without a bit of hesitation. He is housing the poor where there is standing room only, so to speak. Their facilities are filled over capacity, and he is reluctant to turn anyone away. LIke Mother Teresa, he founded his Order to take care of the poor in his country of Jamaica, as well as Haiti.

Another would be the Missionaries of Charity, Mother Teresa’s organization.

Check well with charitynavigator.org before donating to the any of the others. Uness they have a high rating with proficient use of the monies they receive, you do well to send it elsewhere.

Catholic Charities is a good one. You may have some local services in your area. We, here in the Coachella Valley have Marthas Village. Ask you parish preist. I like getting involved in charity work.

God bless
