Catholic Child can not go to Mass because protestant mom want drive?

Hello. I am looking forward to becoming a Catholic this Easter. My mom said she will drive me even though she is Protestant. But sometimes, she want drive me to mass on Sundays. I am a little bit worried that when I convert, she want take me to Sunday Mass regularly. I know its a Mortal sin to miss mass without an unjust cause. But, I am eager to go to Mass that Sunday and my Mom want take me, does that sin fall upon The Protestant Mom or the Catholic Child? …I know, I have a weird family.

If you have no possible way to get to mass, and it is to far away to walk and you don’t know anyone who will drive you, then its not your fault, and not a mortal sin.
 
As Andrew posted, if you have no way of getting there then it’s not a sin to miss mass. But maybe during your RCIA process you will meet some people that you could get rides to mass from when you need them?

Hi JD & welcome to CAF!

It sounds like you might even have a problem of getting to the RCIA meetings also? If this might be a problem, I would encourage you to either contact the Church office or the person in charge of RCIA at the parish you will be going to, & explain you situation of no transportation. I’m sure they can help you as long as your mom does not object.

Sorry, I should add also, that the Church office might be able to find someone who can give you a ride to Sunday masses.👍

I’m sorry, but I do not believe your link is the same situation as this thread. In that case the adult or parents converted to Catholicism. In this case (this thread) the minor is converting. Granted, he does have to respect his parents and do as they say, but if the parents have no objection to his conversion to Catholicism then he might have to obtain his own transportation.

One thing I’m not sure of…does his mother have to sign for his converting?🤷
