Catholic => Christian ?

When I hear “Christian” at Church without any adjectives (such as Protestant), I know the speaker is speaking about Catholics.

When I hear it on the street by a non-Catholic, I know it pretty much excludes Catholics.

That’s just the way it is in these parts.

I can understand that heartach. My heart aches as well whenenver I meet someone that is not a member of the Catholic faith. I am happy that they know the Lord, but am saddened by the fact that they are not within the fullness of the Church. To help me in this I pray that the Holy Spirit will move within them to lead them to the fullness of faith.
 
When I hear catholic I usually think of the universality of the Church when I hear Christian I usually think of protestants that don’t typically consider themselves part of the one holy catholic apostolic church. I know thats weird but i think thats what I think lol.

I also pray for my Protestant brothers and sisters. Why? Because I was one for decades and only now do I know the true joy of fullness of the faith in Jesus. I gave up the social activities (they have us beat hands down on this) for the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus.

so misguided.

When I think of Catholic I think of someone that needs to be catechized.
When I think of Christian I think of Catholics that know their faith.
When I think of Christian that happens to be non-Catholic I think about someone who is not in full believe of all that Christ handed down and thus separates them from the fullness of the Church of Christ, which is historically proven to be Catholic.

Catholics were worshiping Christ before your charismatic religion ever existed.

This question invites non-Catholics to insult our Holy Faith. Eucharisteo, I am sure you did not mean that with your question but that is what is happening.

I expected all sorts of comments but it was not intended to attract insults from those who are obviously here to slam Catholicism or convert us. My point was to show and that Catholics are and will always be the first Christian known to man and God for that matter.

This just made me think of another question. Was Jesus Catholic/Christian after he Rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, the day of Pentecost or at all? Does he retain the identity of Jewish or at all. Trivia but fun to ask.

So what? Is it important how long a Church is worshopping our Lord?
Is it not more important THAT Christians, no matter which denomination, worship Him.

I have often enough stated in this forum why I think the Catholic Church (and the Oriental Orthodox Churches) were (together with the Eastern Orthodox Churches later on) for such a long (until 500 years) the only Religion… I won’t repeat myself here.

You might want to provide a link to those Post, so that those of us that have not read all your post, but maybe interested in your statements on the subject can fid and read them. or just copy and past them here. I will share my view on why for the first 1000 years or so there was only the Catholic Church is because Christ prayed that we all be one and much effort was put into keeping that unity. with the Schism between the Eastern and Western Chruch there still remained a unity in belief and keeping of the Apostolic Succession. It was not till the 1500’s that those that did not see the need to Keep the Faith of the Apostles, and were able to decide for themselves what scripture was and what it meant that this on going protest against Christ Church began.

That is not to say that from time to time one person or a small group would pop up outside of the Church and call themselves a church and the followers of Christ. In most case they soon died out. If you look closely at what is taught by most prostant denomination. you will find elements of these groups and people today. Arianism is still taught today in some demoniantions. Gnostisim can be found within some. etc… to a whole range of inter mixing of beleifs that have been delcared heresy over the first 1000 years.
