Catholic church and Politics?

I remeber hearing something about the Catholic Church and Health Care, is this true? What is it? does the Catholic Church have any other more political issue type teachings? Does anyone know where I can find out more? Thanks and God bless.

There’s several encyclicals in the last 100+ years that deal with social issues. Rerum Novarum is one. There’s a Compendium of the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church. It’s a very good read and it explains the role of the church in society. Don’t let the title fool you, it’s a very illuminating book.
