Catholic Church was warned about McCarrick decades ago, yet promotions, honors kept coming

Anyone who took no action on information in their possession needs to be rooted out. Clerics need to be laicized and lay persons need to be out of any current position in the Church
 
Its not news that “everyone” apparently knew McCarrick was an abuser. Its not news that he got defended and promoted anyway. What still isn’t clear is why and how this happened…and we may never get an answer.
 
I would agree we’ll probably never get a full accounting. Unfortunately. Supposedly the McCarick report will be out later this month. But who knows. I’m expecting a total whitewashing.

It’s unfortunate as well that we can’t even trust our bishops anymore. Not after this and similar cases. That’s how I feel.

It depends on how many of the current crop of bishops were around then/ “part of the problem”.

I see no point in distrusting some bishop who was just elevated to the bishopric in the last few years and was some sort of lowly parish priest or maybe not even ordained when McCarrick was doing most of his rot. Different generation, different procedures, different attitude.
