The only part of seperation that fails is when you have a student that is decidedly homosexual. But then there is the home school option still.
Are you saying that to remain truly Catholic, a school needs to kick out all the gay students and tell their parents to homeschool them?

Now there’s Christian compassion at work.

By your “hormones logic” sexually mature young people shouldn’t be allowed to work together in the same office, either.

From this forum and another forum I see many times where teens and other young adults in the twenties struggle with pornography, masturbation and premarital sex. The temptations have always been there but in todays world children are being taught that all these sins are good and that it is not good to avoid these sins. It is our jobs as parents to help our children. We should do this as best we can. The world we live in is crazy and tells us evil is good and good is evil. It is a battle and we as parents need to defend our children.

So I do not see separation of sexes in school as bad. I see it as Good and the kind of Good we need to battle what the world is using to attack our children with.

I do not like how you are twisting my words. save the tricks for someone else.

Okay, just for the sake of argument, let us assume Pope Pius XI’s encyclical is entirely fallible. Then what is the Church’s dogma on education? Is there any?

Is it necessary that everything that touches life be an infallibly defined?

One might as well ask for the Church’s dogma on how much to spend at the grocery store, or what kind of pets to have.

Or should we ask Pope Benedict to declare the multiplication table or Pythagorean theorem infallible dogma de fide–or maybe simply acceptable theologoumena–before we believe it?

Furthermore, there’s a big difference between a statement being an infallible teaching and being “entirely fallible”. Something a pope or any other bishop says can easily be counsel and advice rather than command or definition, and it’s up to the individual to determine how well the advice applies to his own situation.

And something I was just thinking today:

Papal infallibility is basically a dead issue because there’s no general agreement about which papal statements are infallible!

:rotfl::rotfl: shanny you’re so bad.
little old ME? :pshaw:
personally I see the wisdom in seperating the sexes from just before the start of puberty. It makes alot of sense to me.
You know I actually think there is a lot of wisdom in the idea of separating kids at least for parts of the school day by sex. The fact is girls and boys are inherently different. They see, experience and interpret the world differently, use their senses to intake information differently. It’s not a bad idea IMHO. There are some Catholic schools I’m aware of that already do this…one I looked at sending my daughter to way back when was Sacred heart in Chicago. It’s co-ed but the kids are separated for instruction in core subjects. I believe they have ‘specials’ together and lunch, recess, etc. They might have separate gym class too which I personally think is a GREAT thing. Boys in gym to me was pure torturous hell on earth.

It’s too bad Geremia’s point isn’t to discuss the merits of single sex education but rather to decipher who is “Catholic” enough to agree with the fact that she’s already decided “Catholic” co-ed schools aren’t Catholic (sans quotes). Oh well, could have been a nice discussion.🤓
BTW I am not home schooled either.
Thank goodness I’m not the only moron afoot here, PHEW!! :coolinoff:

(Actually I had already guessed that by the fact that you misspelled a lot and separating;):D:p )

Labeling someone homosexual is no different than labeling someone else ADHD. They are both racist ways of categorizing people.

Absolutely not!

Yeah… I type fast and rarely review what I wrote and also rarely use spell check. 😃

But the message should be there all the same. I have known complete idiots that can spell everything right and be grammatically correct. 😉

What does race have to do with homosexuality???

This does remind of someone that once wrote that if homosexuality were part of the natural order that there would be no homosexuals since they are unable to procreate as male to male or female to female. Just a thought that came to mind.

Geremia, with all due respect, have you ever visited co-ed schools and single sex schools and compared the students’ behavior? From my own experience, guys around girls are more civil and less crude. Guys on their own generally act like animals, and there is a lot more joking homosexual behavior. In my area, I would say sending your child to a single sex school could border on sinful. I’d really have to agree with previous posters that not everything that comes out of a Pope’s mouth in intrinsically accurate.
