Catholic colleges defy bishops with graduation honors

As a graduate of Marquette University I did my duty today. I got the address for the president of Marquette from www.cardinalnewmansociety.org and wrote him an e-mail telling him I was ashamed to admit I was a graduate of a university with pagan values that would honor Cokie Roberts. I told him I would not be financially supporting the school until they returned the Catholic values.

 According to the Cardinal Newman report, Cokie Roberts would be giving the address and receiving an honorary degree.  She has publicly ridiculed the new pope that I love and also publicly condoned abortion.  She does not represent my values.  

 I encourage any other graduates of the colleges mentioned by the Cardinal Newman report to let your college presidents know that you will not be financially supporting them until they return  Catholic values.

The “Catholic” colleges are defying the bishops.

And many bishops are in defiance of the pope.

Looks to me like those colleges are just following the examples set forth for them by ther episcopacy …

Dr. Bishopstein, your monster is ALIVE !

You all must now get your own acts together and kill the monster that you have created …
 
that mirror is cracking the whip on many of these so-called “catholic” colleges.
 
At the end, this college of New York was anymore time non-catholic too isn´t it? well I think that is necessary discipline measures. Because the situation is miserable.

This is the response I received today:
“Thank you for expressing to me your concerns about our 2005 Commencement Speaker, Ms Cokie Roberts. It is of course the right of any member of our church to express such concerns to me, and I respect that. However, upon full consideration of the matter, I believe that with respect to this situation we here at Marquette have in fact acted in full conformity with authentic Catholic teaching. Sincerely, Robert Wild, SJ, President Marquette University.”

What do I do next? The President says they have acted in full conformity with ???authentic Catholic teaching??? What does that mean?
 
So, does that mean that a Jew or a Moslem would not be allowed to give an address at a Catholic school because they reject Jesus Christ as Saviour?

Wouldn’t the subject matter of the address be important, too?

Jews and Moslems don’t generally go around calling themselves Catholic. Cokie Roberts does.
And why should someone who does not support Catholic Dogma be allowed to speak at the commencement of or be given an honorarium by a Catholic institrution?
The very prominence of the event and known public views of the person combine to make such an invitation improper. The word is scandal.
