can someone suggest a good, understandable one volume catholic commentary. thanks, God bless. p.s. thats one volume for the whole bible.
 
I really like “A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture”, edited by Dom Bernard Orchard (1951). It’s out of print, but I didn’t have too much trouble finding a used copy online.

The Jerome Biblical Commentary is good one to seriously consider.
I have a 1968 Jerome Biblical Commentary hard cover with 898 pages I use often.
Some Biblical Commentaries can be pricey but if your lucky you can find some great used catholic books at public book fairs.
Another excellent Catholic Biblical Commentary Online is Haydock’s Biblical Commentary 1859 edition: haydock1859.tripod.com/
