I moved my family from Boston to Alleluia Community which is in Augusta GA. We LOVE it here. It’s been two years living in this covenant community and it’s the first time in my life I’ve felt like I’m finally home.
I had looked into Ave Maria in FL also, but it became clear that God was leading our family here. I visited a few times with and without my children, staying with community families. We all wanted to move here!
One of the reasons I feel so good about this community is that it’s one of the oldest and strongest in USA. We just celebrated 41 yrs! In addition, the Bishop loves Alleluia & celebrates mass approx. once per month (estimate) for us right at our community school. What’s unique about this community is that it is ecumenical! Alleluia is made up of approx. 70% Roman Catholics & 30% non-Catholic Christians (including Lutheran, Vineyard, Methodist, Messianic Jew, Pentecostal, Anglican, and probably others I can’t recall). Our current & last two popes are/were very supportive of us and several of the community “Elders”, including our non-Catholic Elder, regularly travel to Rome. They have met with and been approved by St.JPII to Pope Francis.
Well, moving to a Covenant Community was a huge change and a leap of faith for me, so all that history and Church approval made me feel peaceful about it.
FYI, the majority of the religious vocations in our diocese (which is an enormous diocese) come from Alleluia!
