I have been really impressed with zondervans newest study bible, the cultural backgrounds, and can’t seem to find a Catholic equivalent. Is there anything out there comparable? I’d rather not have the questionable commentary and translation but the old testament notes look fantastic. The protestants really are crushing us in this area of life with their study bibles.

At some point, to some degree, regarding some topics, a protestant source will contain some degree of error. I grant that the majority of it may be correct, but it is guaranteed to be in conflict with Catholic teaching at some point. Until and unless you are fully catechized, how will you know? I would take Clare’s advice and stick with solid Catholic sources.
