I usually follow up with ‘did Christians everywhere pray for intercession of saints before Protestantism?’ if so, then Protestantism did a great disservice to Christians by removing the helpers of common faithful people.

Yeah, to me Protestants took a wonderful, rich faith and threw more and more of it out until there was almost nothing left.
