To be specifc, I was Lutheran with a fundamentalist streak (even read Jack Chick.) Thank the Lord for bringing me home.

was raised Southern Baptist. Luckily, am in the process of entering the Church.

I was raised nominally Protestant. Converted to Catholicism as a teen, but took a 10-year side-trip into Mormonism. Now I’m home to stay. Guess my guardian angel was working overtime on me. :angel1:

Raised in no religion------------>Lutheran at 26--------->Catholic at 36

Scott

Birth - 16 - Lutheran
16 - 33 - nothing
33 - 35 - “studied” - jws
35 - 50 - nothing
At 50, I began to look at Catholicism because my heart was crying out for Christ. I found Him in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Was Missouri Synod Lutheran from birth till five years old.
Was a Jehovah’s Witness from 5 years old till 29 years old.
Was a Missouri Synod Lutheran from 30 years old till I was about 36 years old which is when I became Catholic.

Was raised Baptist. Then went into non-denom. churches at 18. Converted at 24 this last Easter.

Church of Christ

Now I’m just (very impatiently) waiting for RCIA to start!

Age 4 monthsI was baptised Anglican (Church of England) but my family didn’t attend Church. Baptism was just something you did.
Age 7 - 14 Attended Baptist Sunday school and was member of Boy’s Brigade (I really wanted to play the snare drum!).This was my grand ma’s doing: she insisted all her grand children attend Sunday school. She was Salvation Army!
14 - 28 Atheist, Anarchist, Punk. Not proud of what I did back then; the usual sex, drugs and rock 'n roll.
28 - 38 Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
38-45 Searcher after the Truth. This was a real ‘dark night of the Soul’ experience for me after my Ma died and my marriage broke up. Went agnostic, new age, tried Anglicans before coming to the One True Church!
46 - 48 RC> Took first Holy Communion, Easter 2003, thanks be to God! :gopray2:

WOW…now that is a JOURNEY! Don’t you feel so very Blessed…and Chosen!:blessyou:

I was raised Methodist. When in the Methodist Church I never heard sermons preached against Catholics. Rev MacDonald had awesome sermons on stories from Jesus’s life. My mom was a wonderful praying Christian.

At 17 I met a young man and I attended Mass with him one Christmas. I loved the pomp and circumstance that the Catholic Church had and I felt closer to God there. I went back to church with my family and from then on I felt something ws missing (like 1500 years of Christian tradition) At 31 years of age I became a Catholic. I must say it was like being in a strange land for a few years but now I feel like I am home.

The power of God works in different ways. Reading everyones post makes me very proud to have you all as brothers and sisters in the Catholic faith. Some of you went on some journeys. I have always been Catholic from Baptisim as a child. Was not a practicing Catholic, but did not deny that I was Catholic. I had my doubts about the Catholic Church because did not know anything about it. Dad was Presbytarian and Mom Catholic. Attended RCIA and now there is no looking back.

Church Militant:
Do us “re-verts” count?
I was wondering the same (I did not vote BTW)

Birth - 6: Catholic
6-22: Agnostic
22-present: Non-Denominational/Non-Affiliated Christian (Seeker/Inquirer)
Future plan: Catholic

My gut feeling would be that 16 years out of the church would qualify me as being rased without a religion.

baptist (fundamentalist) & church of christ here. (the “fundamentalist” church of christ where there are no musical instruments)

I was born\raised Catholic

Went to the Navy and fell away…

Went to several small independant Churches.

Ended up meeting my wife who went to a Four Square Gospel, which I went with her to, this little church broke away and became independant.

It then got absorbed by Calvary Chapel, Calvary Chapel is a real feel good church, it is very community based. All of this experience in different Bible based Churches with the addition of my brother becoming a strict fundamentalist made me decide that there was something wrong with all this division, no matter how comfortable my life was.
I decided to not look at what was what I thought was convenient or comfortable, but to find out what was the truth.
This took a lot of prayer and a little difficulty with my wife who felt Calvary Chapel was it.

Surprise, surprise it led me to the Catholic Church, not an easy journey but once you come back to it and realize what it really is you understand how really beautiful this faith of ours is.
Someone once described the Church like a stained glass window, it might look a little plain outside, once you are inside and you see the light shine through it is beautiful.

I am blessed also because my wife made the journey home too.

God Bless
Scylla

I wasn’t raised religious, so I received the sacramental grand slam at the 2003 Easter Vigil — baptism, confirmation, and first Eucharist.
