I was researching this recently and found out that countries that celebrate CORPUS CHRISTI with a PUBLIC HOLIDAY are catholic countries… and my country was listed there TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO.
So i guess you can count us in too.
The celebration of a religious holiday as a national one (also a high population of a specific religion) doesn’t necessarily mean that religion is the official, state sponsored religion.

Here in the US, Christmas is still a national holiday, yet we neither have nor have had a state religion ever.

The Philippines and Ireland are other good examples (with respect to population). They have ridiculously high percentages of Catholics, yet both nations do not have a state religion.

I’m not sure about that listing of countries. The official religion of Finland last I knew was Lutheran.

The churches here are actually extremely well attended on both sides of the divide…in fact I would argue that religion is taken much more seriously in the North of Ireland than in the South or in the UK. People have died here because of there respective religions not very many years ago…and when you are prepared to die for your faith you have to give it serious consideration.
That’s good to hear. I’m pleased that the people of Northern Ireland have managed to keep their respective faiths. These days, it’s important that our country keeps it’s Christian identity especially given the rise of radical Islam.

Regardless of the denomination, I hope that Northern Ireland remains religious. Although I hope all traces of sectarianism vanish so that both communities can have a peaceful co-existence.

The Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago is predominantly Catholic, however, since President Obama came here our country’s government:mad: is considering legalising abortions and gay marriages…

Life as a Catholic in this country as become extremely difficult…
