Catholic coverup?

Yup, some church leaders made a huge mistake and covered up the sinful and illegal activity of a very small percentage of priests. It hurt the reputation of the Church, tarnished some of the leaders who covered over these actions, and perpetuated the injury to those who were taken advantage of by a small group. We need to admit it, learn from our mistakes, and move forward.

Is that the point of your post?

Certainly some of the bloggers who were in that link will never let the Church put this behind us and try to move forward in a constructive manner.

Two things:

#1 Your link is to reader comments regarding a USA story. Are you asking us to comment on the comments of who-knows-who giving their opinions in cyber space or about an actual news story? If the latter, please provide the correct link.

#2 What does this have to do with Social Justice?

Don’t forget it was a wakeup call from which the Church learned from and is growing from. The Catholic Church probably has the best safety program to protect children then any other organization in the world, followed by the Boy Scouts of America. No other other organization has child protection training of the same quality, though it still needs improvement, better then any public school, organize sports program or any other organization that serve young people. Unlike the rest of the world the Church has, is and continues to evaluate the safety of and for the children along with promotion of family values. No other organization can make that claim. Yes, it was a scandal, yet just as individual Christians must learn from thier failures so does the Church. I know my child is safer within the Church then outside of the Church. God is good and He chastises those He love.🙂

Agreed and good point.

It is a shame it took us such a string of tragedies to learn this lesson, but perhaps the Church will ultimately end up as a role model for good citizenship and stewardship toward children.

The unfortunate part is that they were awakened to the problem by the ancient desert monks who delt with it. However, they disregarded the ancient wisdom and relied on modern science [sxychology] to treat it, or mistreat it as it turned out.

You forget, conversion is an ongoing processes.
