Catholic cremation?

My mother was recently deceased and she was cremated as a wish of hers.We are from a practicing catholic family,but we were not as practicing as my grandfather.My grandfather has asked if it was ok that we bury her ashes in a catholic cemetery,and i have agreed,but i would also like to take some of her ashes and do as she would have wanted.My grandfather says that this is against catholic religion,or against the catholic church?I am just not sure why and would like some answers or some insight to how we can compromise.I am my mothers next of kin,her only child and she is not married.I would really like to do this for my mother without upsetting my grandfather,but if i am not mistaken i have the final say because of my being her next of kin.Please any insight would be great…Thank you very much.
