Dating is supposed to lead to marriage. Respect and love are supposed to be part of dating and marriage. So is sex. Now that should of freaked everybody out.
Yes sex is supposed to be part of dating, just not sexual intercourse. Sex is a bigger subject that intercourse. Sex includes holding hands, kissing, what you wear, or don’t wear, and what you do. You know, activities, like skiing.
There are many perverted activities about everything, sex included, but maybe it is better to not dwell on the perverted stuff and discuss the right way to do things.
Dating I’ll define as all activities prior to betrothal or marriage between a man and a woman. To make the marriage successful as much information as possible needs to be exchanged between the parties. You don’t want to be surprised after you are married.
Now to be fair, most of the information you should exchange does not involve sex. You should actually discuss things like a budget before you get married. Wow, how boring. Another thing you need to discuss is sex. If you are dating someone and do not want to have sex with them then you shouldn’t be dating them. If you have sex with them, well you have made a decision that is contrary to Church teaching. If you are passionate with one another and respect one another to stop before you have intercourse you are are probably doing the whole thing right.
Dating is a time that two people demonstrate their love for each other. Love the person you date as a Christian.
I’ve met Catholics that are so screwed up when it comes to dating. I suspect their problems had more to do with being shy than anything, I doubt very much if they had any problems with sex, but I have dated a woman that was afraid to let me hold her hand. She is a very traditional Catholic. That is her choice. It was my choice to not go out with her anymore. If your faith is making you lonely I think there is a problem. But, it is your choice. God loves you no matter what you do.
