The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston and Bishop England High School have broken ties to Saturday’s Race for the Cure.

They made the decision because the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation gives money to Planned Parenthood in other cities.

The race is expected to attract about six thousand people in Charleston this year.

I checked the Columbia and Charleston newspapers’ web sites for more information but didn’t see anything. Will check again later in the day. Might have miss that altogether if it wasn’t here. Thanks for the post.

It is suggested that abortion may increase the risk of breast cancer. This makes a lot of sense.

It was in the Post and Courier yesterday (Tuesday) morning – front page of the 2nd section. It was all over local (Charleston) talk radio yesterday: most reaction was anti-Catholic, but “Radio Free Rocky D” (late afternoon, very popular, conservative talk show) had a spokesman from the local diocese speak to the issue. BRAVO TO THE DIOCESE OF CHARLESTON FOR ITS STAND FOR LIFE!

Have any other diocese’s done the same thing?

I wonder if more will follow suit?

Good. Is there a link or email address we can send supportive emails to?

Here’s the story in the Post and Courier

Here’s the Post and Courier website if you wish to voice your support for Bishop England HS’s and the Diocese of Charleston’s decision not to support a Komen.

And of course, Walt has already posted the link to the diocesan website to voice support directly to the Diocese of Charleston, so you can congratulate Bishop Baker:bowdown2: for his gutsy stand for life.

OUTSTANDING!!!

Everyone should treat anyone who supports Planned parenthood as a pariah. In my Acconting practice i refuse to do tax returns for people who have w2s from planned parenthood. I have had complants filed against me and some very interesting arguments but there are no circumstances under which I will take blood money from those who profit from killing children

Bishop Baker is giving the homily this morning on EWTN! He used to be a Priest here in Jacksonville right before he became Bishop of Charleston. He is well loved here. I’m not surprised that he took a stance.:tiphat:

Not only that, but he was on Fr. Mitch Pacwa’s show last evening, to be re-run, I believe, immediately after Mass on EWTN. . . gotta sign off so I can listen
