A quick encore. I use to decorate with the Rebel flag, like many others, but then I made it to sixth grade and studied history.

I had a good friend who was born in the south and moved up north as a teenager. When he got his driver license one of the first things he did was buy a Confederate flag license plate to put on the front of the family car. His father, a born and raised southern man himself, was furious.

Sometimes we need to be willing to laugh at ourselves. This old Bugs Bunny cartoon very much plays on stereotypes.

The novel, The Help set during the Civil Rights era accurately depicts that time period without stereotyping. Well worth reading.
