What are your thoughts about non-credit certificates from CDU? This is my first topic so forgive me if I’m doing something wrong.

Catholic Distance University is a great school, with some very well known professors.

One thing you might want to consider (if you are not looking for college credit) is the New Saint Thomas Institute.

I take short classes there (non-credit) and they have non-college credit certificates in Catholic Philosophy, Theology, Apologetics, Catholic History, and the New Testament (and always adding more).

It’s also a very affordable way to determine if you are wired for online learning before taking college courses.

NOTE: however CDU is an accredited Catholic College. So I’m sure their non-credit certificates will most likely care more weight than the New Saint Thomas Institute (which is not an accredited institution, nor plans to be)

Good luck and God Bless

Thank you and I will look into the New Saint Thomas Institute. The certificate for Catholic Theology sounds interesting.

I have taken a course on St. Matthew’s Gospel at CDU and will probably continue to pursue the certificate for the New Testament. It was pretty reasonable. I’m an educator and am curious to how the certificate could help me as a teacher or in my parish.

The courses for the Master’s program are just too expensive right now. My main objective is to deepen my understanding of scripture.

Phil,

The school sounds very interesting to me. But there homepage doesn’t mention much about the tuition setup. I know it’s $25, but is it per course or per “credit”?

$25 per month for the non-certificate track. It’s costs more per month if you want a certificate

You can take as many short courses you want in a month.

Thanks for the response, Phil. It looks like something I’d like to pursue!
