My husband and I are godparents for an RCIA couple’s baby. They are having their baby baptized on Dec. 18th, as it is the next available Baptism slot at our parish before we hit Lent. I was expecting a baptism after they enter the Church but for some reason, they are able to do it earlier. Anyway, I’m on bedrest for multiple instances of pre-term labor (29 weeks), and I honestly have no idea if I will be able to attend the baptism. My husband will be able to make it though. In this case, should I suggest a proxy in my place or is the presence of one of the two godparents enough for a Catholic baptism?
