Your hospital asks me to ignore the pile of dead bodies in the basement (after all according to you, the Great Physician didn’t promise that his doctors would practice impeccably, he only promised that they would issue licenses in an impeccable fashion). Rather, you would have me leave the hospital that doesn’t have a basement full of dead bodies b/c its doctors haven’t been licensed by your hospital’s administration. It seems to me that the Great Physician is more concerned with substance (a lack of dead bodies) than with form (a license issued by your authority), and as such I’ll stay where I am. What is really too bad is that pile of dead bodies in your hospital’s basement…makes people want to avoid hospitals altogether.

I recall that the Great Physician indicated that one could recognize those doctors that followed him by their fruit. Look at those who go to distant lands to live in poverty in order to serve the people. Who has done this on the same scale as the Catholic Church?

Ever heard of the wheat and tares? Its everywhere - especially in the Church - the evil one attacks those who are looking to God. He has no work to do in brothels and the like. He disguises himself as beautiful, successful, sexy and seduces mankind…

We hear so much about the abuse by priests - this makes news and the same case is sometimes reported hundreds of times giving the impression that it is more common than one would think.

How about looking to the thousands of holy men and women who sacrifice everything for God and His Church. How about giving them some credit?

…and I trust that you will understand that, when I was sick and came to your favourite hosiptal, all those dead bodies in the basement caused me to think that I needed better doctors…doctors guided more by the Great Physician and less by the administration. The hospital next door proved to have a superior staff of that sort.

Depends how you define ‘superior’.
The one next door allows abortion, gay marriages, euthanasia, etc,- all anti-life practices. Not surprising since everybody claims to be a doctor and interprets the Great Physician’s prescriptions to suit his own liking and after several centuries of that, 4,000 individual interpretations do not agree with each other. How anyone can believe that Jesus and the Holy Spirit took a rain cheque for 1500 years and only appeared on the scene at the reformation is beyond me. There are intelligent people who have been conditioned to believe the most incredible things, like Sola Scriptura for instance.

Jesus meant what he promised and has kept that promise.

Was it not Fulton Sheen who said that very few people hate the Catholic Church - the great majority hate what they believe to be the Church - they have bought into the lies that have been passed on over hundreds of years. When I read Karl Keating’s book Catholicism and Fundamentalism I was amazed and horrified to learn about the huge quantity of books that have been written full of horror and fabrication about the Catholic Church.

To think that anyone would go to the trouble to write such books attacking the Church is inconceivable - only the evil one could motivate such a dispicable thing! If you don’t believe another’s person’s faith keep it to yourself - but to spew out all that garbage is extremely mind-boggling and says little about the authors. No one is denying that there were many ills during Luther’s time. As a matter of fact, there were many ills way before that as well.

But as St Augustine wrote, the Body of Christ may be ill and covered with sores but that is no reason to chop it into pieces.

And as I have written before, it is sad that St Ignatius of Loyola wrote his Spiritual Exercises 6 years after Luther posted his 95 thesis.

Otherwise, Luther would have known about the discernment of spirits. He started off with good intentions but because he was overcame with pride, in the end, it was the devil who guided him instead of the Holy Spirit.

Please realize the difference between the teaching (doctrine) of the church are altogether different from the people within the church.

Even during this times of bad practices, no doctrine was defined.

There is a difference between doctrine and practice.
The Trinity is a doctrine and will never change.
Not allowing married men to become priests is only a practice, and could be changed tomorrow.

The Church is also both divine and human. When the Pope declares an article of faith he is prevented from error. Otherwise he may be hopeless at Maths!!!

Talking about history how about the world as it is now! - terrible debauched behaviour. Last night we decided to watch a movie which was supposed to be a comedy. A man is killed thru shock - two guys in a helicoptor discharge blanks knowing that the man would get a fright and probably die. It turns out that the Mother of one of the guys suggested it… Well, I ask you!!! Is that funny? Isn’t it frivolous and shocking? The Mother then says “Did I say kill?” to avoid responsibility. We switched off the TV. But what message does this send out? Our society is SICK and BAD and desperately needs conversion.

1. At first they denied what had happened and blamed the accusors and sadly the victims.
2. rather than confront their “sin” they moved the offennders around to victimize others.
   3)When overwhelming evidence mounted up against them they moved to a cut the loss strategy.
   4)During this process there was no concern with those that had been abused.
3. They paid out large amounts of money to make this thing go away.
   6)And only then was the issue how to deal withthe abusers dealt with. And then so that they could say that they put this behind them there was an apology to the victims.

Had this been 500 years ago without modern communications the RCC would never would have had to deal with it and the abuse would still be going on.

Don’t think that Rabbis and Ministers of Protestant religions are innocent - it is only when this is done by a RCC priest that it becomes newsworthy!

Yes, I think they were ashamed because this was such a HUGE SIN and such a disgrace - they didn’t know what to do! Blamed the victims? THAT is TERRIBLE! I am sorry about that and I apologise on behalf of my fellow Catholics.

   I believe that society at large were ignorant of this terrible flaw, this terrible “sickness” - it was thought that thru counselling it could go away. No, I think it was largely ignorance and perhaps fear. I don’t believe for a moment that the bishops knew that this would be repeated elsewhere

   OK so you think this was exclusively among Catholic priests (very few let me correct) You must have a limited power of analysis and knowledge

Can you please get one thing straight? The guidance of the Holy Spirit is for TRUTH this is because right action is supposed to follow from having known Truth. With me so far?

Now, some members of the Church inspite of having known the truth, still decided not to follow it. And that is why there was corruption in the Church. Jesus said He will send the Holy Spirit to guide the Church into truth. He didn’t say to guide it into all goodness? Comprende?

It would be like my mom, who loves me very dearly, telling me to not rob a bank but I still went ahead. My mom’s teaching was correct but I was stubborn and stupid. So I was thrown in jail and there became quite ill with putrid sores all over.

Now seeing the way I am, my mom sent some of my friends, to talk sense into me. My friends seeing that I was quite ill, decided to heal my wounds and counselled me until I would follow the trth that my mom has taught me. But another evil person who pretended to be my friend said, NO, LET US CHOP UP HER LEGS AND HER ARMS for behaving so badly.

That was the difference between the “true reformers” and Luther, et al.
