This is true, but it becomes a personal point of truth and honesty. It is deceptive to partake in the sacraments when you know that you are unworthy to do so in the eyes of the community. Who would know, but us that we have done so? God greatly dislikes liars, and to knowingly do so would make me worse in God’s eye. These may not be his rules, but they are the rules of the organization and I would be deceiving those around me by claiming otherwise.

My parents, husband and myself will go to mass when we fly out West to visit with them. I’m sure my parents would love it if I received communion, and being from a small community it must humiliate them to see me crossing my arms before my chest and accepting a blessing instead. You know others in the community talk about such things, and it would be easier on them if we just ignored the rules. Who would know that I married in the United church to a protestant? Who would know that I said my vows to God in a building that wasn’t part of the Roman organization? I do, God does, and he knows that I would be lying to everyone around me by ignoring their organization’s rules as though I were in perfect standing with the Roman Catholic church. I may not have sinned against God, but I did go against the rules set out by man for the Roman Catholic Church.

God dislikes liars.
People deny that there is any sin, its a hedonistic society, & people like it that way, & that includes catholics

That is your belief. The rules set out by God are in the Bible, and the rest were all done by man.

Many Catholics are participating in the reception of The Holy Eucharist when they are not reconciled. The church knows this but is afraid to confront it because they dont want to chase these people away. The Church is a business of a sort, havn`t You noticed. If the church keeps telling the people what they dont wanna hear, they are gonna be gone. The Church cant afford to lose any more members & I am not anti catholic, just telling it like i see it
Catholics, especially Catholics, who receive the Eucharist unworthily bring damnation on themselves. It is not the Church’s business to deny the Eucharist to folks who do not reveal their sin or stand contrary to Church teaching.

If the Church pushes these folks away to a demonination that denies the Church’s teaching, for instance on contraception, these good folks will never get the chance to hear the truth that the Church teaches.

Jesus came to preach to the sinners, as those who were perfect had no need of him. The Roman Catholic church allows unfit sinners to enter, but dare they partake in the sacraments.
Of course they can partake of the Sacraments. All that is restricted is the order ones takes them in.

The one`s who are using AMBC are the very ones who are approaching the altar, without reconciliation. Catholics dont want the use of AMBC to be a sin. I am out there, I hear catholics talk & the church knows it , but dont address it. Lately though, The church is making little subtle hints about different things to the pick & choose Catholics

“Has anyone else delved into Catholic history and found the utter corruption and moral depravity shocking?”

Yes. Yes, again, with an occasional ‘no’. Clear enough?

Hey…no one is innocent. No one. For example, in your shock and disgust, after ‘delving’ into Catholic history, did you find time to ask yourself if some of the things *you’ve done *in your life might have the same effect on others? Yeah…have you ever done anything potentially shocking and appalling? I know I have. TO LIVE IS TO SHOCK AND APPALL OTHERS, from time to time. That is part of life on Planet Earth. :sad_yes:

Do you honestly feel that the word of God was not enough, and that the Roman version of the Catholic church needed to create a whole list of other rules for people to follow? I personally will take the word of God over any human. The books in the Bible are believed to have been inspired by God. Not him sitting in the sidelines saying … ohh yeah, that looks good. Put that down. They are actually his words. It is a fallacy for any organization to claim them as their own. The Jewish assembled the Old testament, which is a whole lot bigger than the new. The Roman Catholic church basically copied what the Jews had done, and expanded on it with books written by Christ’s followers. … and then claimed they were all RC’s. Much like the Muslims claim Moses was Muslim. Anyone can claim anything.

Satan uses the Roman Catholic church, and he has for centuries. This is not to say that the organization is bad, but people in it have been used to scare others away. The history is filled with such stories, all you need is Google and a little bit of time to read them. This is not a failing of the church, as God allows Satan to work on us. We can guess that it is some kind of test, but we don’t really know the ways of God.

When I was a Catholic I seldom read the Bible, as I believed the mass covered it. Truth is, the mass misses so many truths that can only be found in the Bible. This is no fault of man, but a reality in that there is too much information to cover. People forget too easily, and the most important lessons must be stressed.

One thing that causes me to shake my head is the arrogant superiority of some people who feel they are better than others because they belong to an organization. This is seen in Protestants who use their term " Born again " to imply anyone who missed out is doomed. The Roman Catholic arrogance need not be extrapolated on, as it is so frequently heard on this board by some of the more outspoken members. You know the ones, as they act more like sports fans. " Roman Catholic Church rules, you all suck!" Ok, I don’t think anyone has actually said that, but you get my point.

Amen to that King!👍

I could be wrong, but blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is akin to outright atheism. It is not comparable to following a non catholic christian church.
Found it!

Therefore I say to you, that every kind of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit it will not be forgiven him, either in this world or in the world to come (Mt. 12:31-32).

What do you think of that? Strong stuff. I thought I had come back to you on that one

Hmmm…👍

You disagree? Just tell me why. Namecalling is not the way to help me.

If you disagree, let me know how you define blasphemy of the Holy Spirit please.
I apologize, I read your post wrong I thoght you were saying that rejecting the Catholic Church is akin to blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is when the Holy Spirit does some work ie heals a sick person, that you deny that the Holy Spirit did in fact do this work and that it was Satan who did it.

I am not sure that is the only definition we can come up with really.
I think its far more complicated than an isolated and specific example like this one.🙂

I was looking at the topic and thought. Catholic history is the history of Christianity. Without the Catholic Church there would be no Christianity.

Would there?

One more thing - the Protestant Reformation was perhaps the most disturbing thing in the history of humanity! What do you have to say about that!

Hey?

Cinette:)
absolutely false.

But is that an unforgivable sin?
