Pro-Abort Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is Keynote Speaker at Catholic School…

Protest St. Ignatius Thursday

Thursday evening at 5 p.m. come to St. Ignatius College Prep at 1076 West Roosevelt Rd. to join our protest against the Women’s Council Awards Dinner keynote speaker, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. Madigan voted consistently pro-abortion as a state legislator.

One of her promises as a candidate for Attorney General was to close down crisis pregnancy centers because they don’t do abortions, and she accepted campaign money from Planned Parenthood, the premier abortion provider in the country.

The Society of Jesus announced on March 25, 2003, that all of God’s children and in particular the most vulnerable and those yet to be born, must be treated with respect and protected by the laws of our nation. The United States Council of Catholic Bishops said last summer that Catholic institutions should not honor those who defy the Church’s fundamental moral principles and should not give them a platform. These suggest support for their actions. Pope John Paul II said during his visit to the United States that if a person’s right to life is violated when he is in his mother’s womb, a blow is stuck at the whole moral order.

We will hand out a brochure with these references in it. If you don’t want to hold a graphic sign, we will also have picket signs denouncing the event, or you may help us hand out flyers.

Stalwarts Picket St. Ignatius

Madigan voted pro-abortion as a legislator and ran on a ticket toclose crisis pregnancy centers. We passed out hundreds of flyers saying “Shame on Ignatius” and giving Madigan’s voting record. It featured statements by the Jesuits, the United States Catholic Bishops and John Paul II, making it clear that abortion cannot be tolerated by Catholics.

Most who witnessed our protest were supportive, though we heard grumblings like, “Why aren’t you helping out at a shelter?” “Choice isn’t Abortion,” and “They can’t be honoring a pro-abortion speaker here—this is a Catholic School.” To his credit, Rev. Brian Paulson. S.J., president of the school, said he didn’t know Madigan was speaking until it was too late.

Toward the end of the demonstration it rained, and I wish Wednesday’s crank could have been there. He had snarled, “Why don’t you ever hold demonstrations when it’s raining?” We didn’t see Madigan, but she knew we were there. Maybe next time the ladies pick a speaker they’ll check her abortion record.

I’m scared…I’m going to give birth sometime in the next few days at a Providence Hospital! Thank God my husband isn’t going to let our baby out of his sight.

The horrible irony of Jill Stanek’s story is that the abortion she witnessed was at a hospital with Christ’s name in it. What a horrible slap in the face to Him!

LEAGUE PROTESTS MADIGAN ADDRESS AT ST. IGNATIUS COLLEGE PREP

The Pro-Life Action League led over forty stalwarts in a protest of St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago on Thursday September 22, as guests were arriving for the annual Woman’s Council Awards Dinner. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, an outspoken abortion advocate, was delivering the keynote address at the event, over the objections of numerous alumni, concerned Catholics and even Francis Cardinal George.

The protest was led by League Communications Director and 1984 Ignatius graduate Eric Scheidler, who lamented having to visit his alma mater with picket signs. “I’m sick at heart to have to do this,” said Scheidler, “but it’s got to be done. Sadly, we can’t count on St. Ignatius to respect justice, faith or even the bishop’s appeal—but maybe they’ll respond to the shame and embarrassment of seeing graphic abortion signs lined up outside the school.”

Protesters, including many Ignatius alumni and parents, lined both sides of the street with graphic abortion signs and pickets reading Shame on “Catholic” Ignatius and Pro-Abort Madigan Is a Disgrace to the Church. Others, led by Ann Scheidler, the mother of seven Ignatius graduates, passed out flyers to students and Women’s Council guests outlining Madigan’s pro-abortion record and Catholic teaching on abortion.

An unusual number of police—as many as four squad cars—as well as several several security guards were present during the peaceful protest.

ST. IGNATIUS OFFERS NO DEFENSE

The League has received no defense of the Madigan invite from Ignatius President Brian Paulson, S.J., who was out of town during the protest. In an e-mail, John Chandler, Vice President for Development, had invited Scheidler to meet with him during the protest, but security guards would not allow the Ignatius alumnus onto school grounds to see Chandler, his former teacher.

Madigan’s pro-abortion record includes a vow to shut down what she called “phony” crisis pregnancy centers, as reported in the League’s December 2002 Action News. She was heavily supported in her AG campaign by abortion advocates Planned Parenthood and NOW. The USCCB has [forbidden](http://www.usccb.org/bishops/catholics(name removed by moderator)oliticallife.shtml) Catholic institutions from giving a platform to pro-abortion public figures.

LEAGUE TO KEEP CLOSE EYE ON IGNATIUS

Scheidler promises to keep a close eye on who St. Ignatius invites to speak at alumni and school events. “If they choose once again to ignore Catholic teaching, the bishops, the principles of the Jesuit order and the justice due to unborn children, we’ll be back.”

Even fatally ill babies, left to develop until term, give their mothers the gift of lowering their risk of breast cancer. Contrarily, mothers who abort dramatically increase their risk.

It would seem that if a woman is unlucky enough to miscarry she would have the same risk?
No, if she miscarries naturally she does not have the same risk. One possible reason is that in a miscarried pregnancy, the pregnancy hormone levels are lower throughout - but whatever the reason is, the studies show the risk is with abortion only, not miscarrage.

Lilyofthevalley:

Aborting mothers also stand a much greater chance of ending up in hospital high-risk maternity departments next time they get pregnant. Their forcibly stretched cervixes will have difficulty keeping subsequent babies inside until full term.

If one goes into labor early in their pregnancy their cervix is “forcibly stretched.” If one has labor induced = cervixes are “forcibly stretched”. So, if this “scientific fact” is true a woman who has labor induced carries the same risk as a woman who has had an abortion.
I
No, a woman usually won’t have labor induced unless her cervix is already ‘ripe’ and prepared to dialate - which won’t happen until the final weeks of pregnancy. If she naturally miscarries, the stretching is not “forced”.

I think you may have known these things yourself, but for some reason you have an interest in promoting the idea that abortion is not harmful to women. Maybe you should prayerfully examine this, and also whether abortion is something you wish to have a hand in promoting. If I recall correctly, you posted not long ago that you use birth control pills, and had no intention of stopping despite information provided here about the abortifacient effect of the pill. You are not to blame for what you have done unknowingly (I took the pill for two years myself before learning it was an abortifacient), however, with additional information one must reexamine one’s actions. I will pray for you.

I pray that more of the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church in America will stop obsessing over sexual liberty and join the cause to stop the blitzkrieg on the family, unborn and weaker among us.

It is sad to see such comfortable complacency at such a critical time in our history. God have mercy on us all.

ABORTION SURVIVOR BARRED FROM SCHOOL

http://www.lifenews.com/jessen2.jpg**Dublin, Ireland (LifeNews.com) – **A woman who survived a saline abortion 28 years ago has been prevented by the largest university in Ireland from speaking there. Though her speaking engagement has been planned in advance, she will not be speaking at University College Dublin (UCD).
Jessen survived a saline abortion when she was 7 months in utero. Despite her cerebral palsy, which she has described as a gift and is a legacy of the abortion, Gianna has traveled the world with her powerful testimony.

I always love these posts…they’re well meaning but ill-informed. The university is a Jesuit university and by their very charter the Jesuits do not answer to anyone other than the Bishop of Rome.
Unless the Pope secretly changed the Church’s teaching on abortion and told only the Jesuits…
