I think Leftist secularism is the default government religion but no one will admit that out loud because then it has to be treated like other religions. In not admitting to be a religion it can become the defacto default religion because of incorrect interpretations of law.
I would wish the church to fight their corner in this, not just in specific cases where it is attacked but to go on the offensive on ideological grounds.
It seems incapable of doing so at the moment for some reason, opting for subservience.
If you do not rally the troops when under attack you find yourself very quickly having no troops.
